God I am glad that I don't live next door to you

Why the unnecessary comment? The OP`s house could have been in danger.

The guys house which backs on to me lit a big fire in the summer..The wife and i were sunbathing and had the patio doors wide open and all the house windows open due to heat...
He lit the fire right at the bottom of his garden far away as possible from his house....

I went ballistic on him and let him know what i thought of him and his brain....He told me he was going to phone the police and i told him a ambulance would be a better idea...No more fires...
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Hi all, no advice, just rant!

Just got home from a long weekend away, husband has gone outside to attend to the bins and noticed our garden is covered in a thin layer of ash. He's looked over the fence and next door have set a fire (now out) on their paving slabs, about a metre (!!!!) from their house and our fence. It's a fairly big pile, I'd say almost two foot wide and half a foot high.

We know our next door neighbours arent the brightest (ignoring Police knocking and getting threatened to knock their window/door in, cutting grass with kitchen scissors), but are people really so thick that they deem this safe? The fire was not in a bin, or contraption, it was directly onto the pavement, which I'm guessing is going to leave a rather nasty mark. They're trying to sell their house!!!

What's even better is they never touch their garden, so the grass is knee height and nice and dry due to no rain for a while.

I am flabberghasted! If things had gone wrong, they are mid-terrace, so not only would their house burst into flames but ours and the other neighbour too!!!

    Obviously they are.

My question would have been "If you are worried about your house's safety, what do you intend to do about it?"

What can they do about it? They only learned of it after the fact.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

I took it as a misprint, meaning they were glad they didn't live next door to the stupid neighbour. Maybe I was wrong!
    . . .I did not speak out

    Then they came for me
And there was no one left
    To speak out for me..

But now they know that they live next door to thick pyromaniacs.

What do they intend to do about it?

Hopefully, they don't have to do much.....the Thickos are trying to sell and move.

What can I do about it? They refuse to open the door to us and when we try and catch them they tell us to f-off.

    Realistically, nothing.

Your house didn't burn down. They are trying to sell and move away. Put up with them for a bit longer.

in my first home I regularly cut the grass with kitchen scissors... better than waist high grass and it got the job done.
