Compaq Presario Windows XP is that what you mean squills?

Yes, thanks. I'll google a bit and see if anything turns up.

    1. If you switch off electricity then turn on again 10 secs later & press F8 fast (twice a second) & repeatedly (maybe 50 times or so might be needed) - does anything happen?

    2. Can you attach a different screen to it? (I'm thinking PC might be OK but screen is not working so you don't realise PC is OK?)

    I'll have a little google. :D

Sorry if it's a bit boring for some but out of interest I phoned the person in Education Welfare who handles penalty notices for taking kids on hols in term time. He said that even in Cornwall (!) the penalty is £60 per child, per parent. So £240 for 2 kids, 2 parents. Apparently not that many of them get issued down here but he said the new guidance might change that and it was a hot topic with lots of schools phoning up for advice.

Hang on a minute, why should it be £60 per parent - what has the number of parents got to do with it? Per child, annoying but consistent, per day, expensive - but per parent?

So a single parent family pays £60 fine, a child with two parents and it is £120? If a child has two parents who are separated and remarried, does that mean 4x£60 or are step parents not included ...

PS - Don't know why I am getting cross as not planning on taking holiday in term time, but it is the principle!

Are you able to start it up in safe mode and take it from there ? Just a thought:)

No emerald, when I press the on button a green light comes on and just sits there merrily flashing. The comp just won't power up and because of that the screen won't come to life either :(

I'm hyperventilating. Did a shop today including robertsons, S&G and blackberries. Receipt has gotten wet in my bag. Smudged the barcode numbers. I think I can make them out but will they accept the APG I (hope) I get?

Genuinely feel like I'm having a panic attack. It only cost me £4 after APGs but the thought of not getting anything back is massively stressing me out.

Managed to womble one receipt today. A mere 20p back. It makes me sad to see receipts all smooshed and mushy on the floor :(

Are you talking about the bday gift because I got some through the post today with an August expiry date but a separate place to put your bday date in (or have I got the wrong end of the stick in which case ignore me)

  • My kids really like the kormas btw - I just checked the calories and it's only 715 so I'm not particularly bothered about them scoffing down a whole one :D

They never really got into curries until now so it's pretty good timing.
