Just had a 10 minute phonecall with a lady from Cancer Research, thanking me for my support in doing race for life. The lady then goes on to say all about the research that goes into cancer treatments and starts asking for a donation of £12.00 a week :eek:, my god, we already pay £10.00 a month to cancer research. I lost my sister to cancer, so I really don't mind paying it, but £12.00 a week is a bit steep. I politely told her that I couldn't afford it.

We donate £10 a month to Macmillan, to be honest we can't afford to but they cared for my Best Friend so well when she passed away from a Brain Tumour 2 years ago. They rang my Partner at work the other day and said we see you pay £10 a month and wondered if you would like to put it up to £20, didnt even say Thanks!

Don't get me wrong I know its so hard to fundraise these days especially but I didnt think trying to get more money from long term existing supprters was the way forward, if I didnt have such a personal reason for donating to them it actually would have made me consider stopping donating to them and choosing another charity instead.

Just catching up, but thought I'd mention a cheap baby carrier found in T's earlier :)

    It's the Mamas & Papas classic baby carrier in black - b/c 5023133384477 - £13.00

I found it on the M&P website for £62, and even ebay seems to be £30-35

Also found the Hauck travel cot, not quite as good as the £7.50 reported on HUKD, but very happy @ £14 :D

Charities are getting far too pushy IMO. We are plagued by door knockers where I live, wanting you to set up DD for charities. We have at least one a week and often more. And they are very persistent, verging on downright rude sometimes  I have signs up but it doesn't stop them.

I have raised money for charity myself and the kids support various charities through school. I feel that the hard sell angle is far too much.

Well done to you for what you have raised :T:T you've certainly done your bit! :)

I have a problem with bucket shakers at supermarkets since I found out someone I used to know had been emptying the contents into his own pockets

He was paid a large percentage from the charities for arranging bucket shakers, they also got a cut of the proceeds, resulting in the charities only getting between 20 to 40% of takings, which I think is dreadful.
If I give to someone shaking a bucket I used to think the charity got the lot and it was voluntary.

It was estimated he took over 750K , but probably a lot more. got sentenced to 3.5 years a few months ago.

:D:D This is making me :rotfl::rotfl: Scamps photo being passed along by PM. You just know at that some point someone will miss what the pic was and will want to know what it is because it's all shrouded in mystery and being done by PM :D:D:rotfl::rotfl:
