No sorry I think you misunderstood - I was referring to her saying that she ended up thinner afterwards than before she was pregnant. I'm on a tablet so can't edit, can only cut and paste in blocks.

The reason she ended up thinner though, was because of the sickness, Im sure a lot of people wouldnt mind being heavier if they didnt have to suffer horrible morning or morning noon and night sickness.

SW is not dieting, it is changing the way you eat so that you mainly eat healthily, but have anything else you want in moderation - even takeaways, alcohol, meals out, desserts, etc are allowed on SW, but you have to count them in your weekly syns. As you get 105 syns a week, and an awful lot of the food that you eat is syn free, it is relatively easy to manage. Children can safely and healthily eat a SW diet, although they have more fibre and calcium allowed as they are growing. From 11-16, younger members can join for free, but need their GP to agree.

Pregnancy is a good time to take in all the extra nutrients that are in the fruit, veg, and lean meat that are a main part of the SW plan.

I didnt say anything against SW so not sure where you took that assumption from. I merely said dieting while pregnant can lead to health complications for the child and that an expectant mother should not be cutting out fatty foods.

Its extremely common for people to think that a healthy diet is only comprised of healthy foods and that they should avoid all bad foods like the plague (in their entirety or as much as possible), which is obviously misguided.

Pregnant mothers shouldn't eat for two (ie double their intake) but their intake should be increased to account for the baby.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Yeah, but the main reason was because she was so sick...

As I said already I was reffering to the end result, but I can understand why you've thought that I was referringnto the sickness. Hope thatsclearer.

I did also stick to a healthy eating plan, just allowed a few extra treats later on, so I reckon without the sickness I wouldn't have put on much as all my babies were overdue and fair sized-not enormous, but all around 8lb. But I agree the sickness wasn't much fun and made me feel pretty wiped out all the time. It was worse during the first pregnancy than the other 3, not sure if that is linked to the first being a boy and the others being girls or not lol.

SW do have specific advice for pregnant women. I'd suggest you come over to the SW thread (on Health&Fitness) there's a poster there who's currently pregnant and would willingly answer your questions.

The extra calories required when pregnant or breastfeeding amount to something like a banana and a glass of milk. So I would have thought that following a healthy diet, but including a few hundred extra calories than "normal" would be perfectly fine whilst pregnant.
