Hi, just wondering if anyone here has done slimming world whilst pregnant? I've heard of people doing it but wanted to get some views on here. I previously lost 3 stone at weight watchers before u I but put most of it back on and am terrified of getting even fatter now lol!
Any first hand experiences would be gratefully recieved!

Google dieting while pregnant. I don't think you are meant to lose weight whilst pregnant unless you are morbidly obese to begin with and then probably only under a doctor's supervision.0

I asked the same question on the slimming world thread board a few months back, perhaps try and find my post and read the advice given? I can't remember what they said but they did put me off doing it.People don't know what they want until you show them.0

Why not just watch what you eat, whilst pregnant - as in eat healthily and then hit the slimming world afterwards? The opposite of what you know...is also true0

Thanks, im not morbidly obese but am quite fat, size 16. More worried about keeping weight off as opposed to losing althoughthat would be a bonus, it's just I'd heard sw allowed you to go to groups and its the onlyone ive heard of that does.0

Nothing wrong with following a healthy diet while you are pregnant and as diets go, slimming world is a reasonably healthy one.
No harm in letting your midwife know you want to eat sensibly and nothing to stop you making some of the SW meals.0 -
i think slimming world lets you go to their groups as it isnt a calorie controlled diet as such, it is more a healthy eating plan where loads of food isnt limited
I couldnt advise whether to do it or not, you should discuss this with your midwife as they will have probably looked into this for others0 -
If I remember rightly you actually don't need any extra calories until the last third of the pregnancy anyway. I don't think I would want to diet whilst pregnant, but counting you cals to hit the "normal" number of cals for your height and age and changing to a more balanced diet sounds a great idea for you and baby.
TBH I was a similar size to you (well 14/16)when I had my first and worried about piling it on-be careful what you wish for, I had terrible "morning" sickness-all day for me couldn't eat till after 7pm, I lived on homemade ginger biscuits and water all day and lost pounds and pounds. My MW actually said it was a good job I had been bigger to start with lol. I had actually gone onto a healthier diet and lost about a stone just prior to getting pregnant. I lost about 2 stone from the sickness, then put back about a stone in the last 6 weeks of the pregnancy, so ended up thinner when I finished and breast feeding after that helped lose a bit more.
TBH I found I put weight on NOT during my 4 pregnancies but later when I became a SAHM, being at home with the kids let me graze.
Enjoy being a Mum its great I am jealous of anyone getting a new baby, I love them when they are tiny and love breastfeeding, BUT it was hard during the last pregnancy being 39/40 with a toddler at home and 2 older ones at school, plus we haven't the space. Enjoy every minute it passes so quickly lol.

Congratulations on your pregnancy
Slimming World allow pregnant ladies to attend their groups, but the food changes slightly I think. We've just had a regular lady in our group give birth to her second child, and IIRC, she had two A choices on Extra Easy, as you need more calcium when expecting. She followed the plan each week and gained weight at a healthy rate. Two weeks after giving birth, she was only six pounds above her target weight, having been in target before her pregnancy. She was healthy throughout and looks great.
I'm sure she had to get something signed by her doctor or midwife as well - a note comes up on the computer when you pay, and you have to get a form or something signed within a certain amount of time. This was after the birth, not sure if she had another form in her early stages.
SW isn't a diet as such, it is a healthy eating plan, and as such will include lots of fruit and veg, which will be great for your growing bump. If you are in a good group, you will find that they are very supportive, members as well as consultant.
Enjoy your pregnancy0 -
I would be careful about dieting while pregnant as it can cause obesity problems in your child later in life - obviously the mothers health is not the only factor to consider.
Thats not to say that pigging out on junk food is okay, just that you shouldnt cut out fatty foods during your pregnancy. A healthy balanced diet should contain all food groups - even the "bad" ones.
As with all things in life, moderation is the key.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I know nothing about slimming world, but I have continued to follow ww whilst pregnant as this is my 5th year following it.
I did ww for 3 years to loose my 8 stone and then I followed the maintenance program for a year before trying for a family. I asked my midwife if I had to stop as well as my dr and both said because I had followed it for so long and it was basically a healthy way of eating then it was fine.
I was a size 12/14 before falling pregnant and have worn size 12, 14 and 16 maternity clothes through out my pregnancy.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160
