Slimming World while pregnant?

TBH I was a similar size to you (well 14/16)when I had my first and worried about piling it on-be careful what you wish for, I had terrible "morning" sickness-all day for me couldn't eat till after 7pm, I lived on homemade ginger biscuits and water all day and lost pounds and pounds. My MW actually said it was a good job I had been bigger to start with lol. I had actually gone onto a healthier diet and lost about a stone just prior to getting pregnant. I lost about 2 stone from the sickness, then put back about a stone in the last 6 weeks of the pregnancy, so ended up thinner when I finished and breast feeding after that helped.

Oh that sounds brilliant I hope that happens to me! Ive been drinking a lot of water and swtiched to caffiene free diet coke, I eat quite heathily anyway, lots of fruit and fish, but I think my main problem is exercise (or lack of!). I'm a junior lawyer so spend most of my day glued to the desk and I leave the car at school, so really only walking to and from the car is all I do.
Recently ive been getting up earlier to do a fitness dvd but that will have to stop now as its sit ups etc. I do go on a 3 mile walk at night around 2 to 3 times per week but now I'm finding I'm falling asleep around 10, putting a kybosh on the walking! To top it all off we're going to Disneyland tommorow and I wont even be able to go on any rides nowfeeling a bit teary tbh

I did ww for 3 years to loose my 8 stone and then I followed the maintenance program for a year before trying for a family. I asked my midwife if I had to stop as well as my dr and both said because I had followed it for so long and it was basically a healthy way of eating then it was fine.
I was a size 12/14 before falling pregnant and have worn size 12, 14 and 16 maternity clothes through out my pregnancy.0 -
I carried on with ww's whilst pregnant but I was on maintenance, I then went staright back after the birth and was put on more points as I was breastfeeding xI don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0

Continualdiamond I really loved ww with the zero point foods but got disillusioned with it when it all changed to pro points. I never seemed to get back on track and kept thinking I'd sort it after uni. Graduated in july and found out I was pregnant on thursday just gone! I never was one to do things by halves though lol0

Thats not to say that pigging out on junk food is okay, just that you shouldnt cut out fatty foods during your pregnancy. A healthy balanced diet should contain all food groups - even the "bad" ones.
As with all things in life, moderation is the key.
SW is not dieting, it is changing the way you eat so that you mainly eat healthily, but have anything else you want in moderation - even takeaways, alcohol, meals out, desserts, etc are allowed on SW, but you have to count them in your weekly syns. As you get 105 syns a week, and an awful lot of the food that you eat is syn free, it is relatively easy to manage. Children can safely and healthily eat a SW diet, although they have more fibre and calcium allowed as they are growing. From 11-16, younger members can join for free, but need their GP to agree.
Pregnancy is a good time to take in all the extra nutrients that are in the fruit, veg, and lean meat that are a main part of the SW plan.0 -
I am currently pregnant too and my midwife told me weight watchers is their preferred choice for pregnant women.
However, I am a size 14 and have found that whilst I thought I'd pile on the pounds I've actually stayed the same all over my body aside from the bump which is not huge either. I haven't followed a diet plan..naturally as baby has grown, I have more pressure on my stomach and get full extremely fast. I also get heartburn with fatty or acidic foods so I don't over eat at all. In fact I have been told I've lost weight in my face and shoulders etc and my size 14 maternity jeans are certainly too big on the hips.
So what I'm saying is don't assume you will plonk a lot of weight on0 -

You dont need to stop the fitness, you just need to modify what you are doing. Its good for women to exercise during and after pregnancy, you could look into aqua natal classes or buggyfit classes or similar. Im a fitness instructor and I have a qualification to teach pre and post natal classes and something a lot of pregnant women assume is that when they get pregnant, they need to halt what they are doing until after the birth, its certainly not the case and many leisure centres offer aqua natal classes and land pre and post natal exercise classes as well.0 -

You think being really sick sounds brilliant as long as you don't gain weight ...? Do you maybe need to get a bit of perspective?0 -

That sounds lovely for you, thats what im hoping for, to be all bump. My face is the first place I see weight go on and I was just starting to get a defined jawline again lol. I just cant get my head around the propoints eg things I liked before that were 3 points are now 9 and it puts me off. I try to eat zero points food a lot and have made a big effort recently, I just think ive probably fallen pregnant before any of my hard work could pay off, typical eh! X0 -

No sorry I think you misunderstood - I was referring to her saying that she ended up thinner afterwards than before she was pregnant. I'm on a tablet so can't edit, can only cut and paste in blocks.0 -
Tbh, as long as you and baby are well, you'll deal with the extra weight afterwards if you put your mind to it, healthy eating and exercise can still be done during pregnancy.
Some women dont gain much weight, my mum didnt, she had hardly any bump both times and both my brother and I were early and both under 5lbs when we were born, I was actually less than 2lbs as I was very premature, not that Im saying thats an ideal scenario either, its not.
One of my friends who is a size 6 normally, was massive during both her pregnancies but lost the weight quickly both times.0
