Now, don't go telling him to ignore it as well, he must get cracking on it. You'll know better now how it all works to give him correct advice, but if he needs any other help, get him to post up a new thread. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Well, in the absence of anyone else we just have to muddle through as best we can. I will use the template you provided in post 53. Thanks. I probably wont bother with an open letter..
What?! Daisy explained exactly why you need two letters and she is a retired solicitor.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I will do. But as its a free car park for several businesses I asked him to go and see if the restaurant where he was eating in will cancel it first.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Good plan. The more complaints about PE the better, every one a nail in the coffin of some car park contracts in the long run.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The manager of Costa recognised him as a regular customer, took the ticket and said she would sort it.
One less thing to think of.

Don't drop your guard until you have written confirmation from PE that the charge has been cancelled - PE do not always roll over straight away, even when instructed to by the principal (and on a retail park, Costa may not be the principal). So your son should still keep an eye on the time limit for appealing against the charge, if necessary.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Your son should have given them a copy of the ticket, never chance losing the original.
I would get the ticket back and whilst there confirm that it is cancelled.
You have to remember what type of companies you are dealing with, their only interest is receiving money!0 -

I am amazed at how many people I have come across in the past few weeks that have fallen victims to PE and it's ways. Motorway service stations, supermarket car parks, beaches etc.... It is a massive con. I wish more could be done to thwart them.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0
