Is it still correct to ignore every letter?

My daughter got a ticket some months ago for stopping 6 minutes by the beach and not buying a ticket while waiting to pick up a friend. The number plate cameras got her.
I advised her to ignore all the letters. But she is getting worried as we are on to the debt collecting agency letter and the next one is the solicitor letter about court and all the CCJ worries.
The comments below seem to be the type of advice I am reading. Is this still the best way forward?
No you don't! You have an unenforceable parking invoice from Parking Eye! Just ignore all letters from them, the bogus debt collectors, and the bogus solicitors letters, they are all trying to scam you, they are a bunch of chancers, and you have paid in any case. The thing to do now is IGNORE

You've advised your daughter incorrectly then. She should have appealed and got a POPLA code.
Who is the company demanding money ?0 -
The above only apples if you are in England & Wales, your advise is correct in Scotland. Even so, a POPLA appeal can be needless busy work, bearing in mind how far down the road you are, there is nothing to lose by continuing to ignore as with 99% of these speculative invoices, they don't get further than the begging letter stages.0

And that piece of advice was given in this thread dated 6th July 2010 - yep - over THREE YEARS OLD.

There must have been literally tens of thousands of threads since then. How on earth did you dig something up from over 3 years ago and assume that was current advice?
Small wonder your daughter is getting near to court.
Was this at Fistral Beach? PPC ParkingEye?Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

And you found that quote in blue on an OLD thread from several months/years ago, then? Oh dear, why not just read threads on page one where we haven't advised ignoring these since the Spring 2013 (it's a good six months or so since we said that, what a shame you didn't just read current threads when you looked!).
If it's Parking Eye they do court (sometimes) so you and she should be more proactive. Complain to the landowner - if you can find who owns the place by Googling - and if you get a Letter Before Action or LBCCC (search the forum) you need to respond as the current threads advise you to.
Six minutes means they didn't allow a reasonable grace period as per the BPA Code of Practice. Too late to appeal but not too late to start complaining and being ready for any pre-Court letter from the actual PPC. You can ignore debt collector drivel.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Notwithstanding the 'cameras got her' - there is STILL no contract extant. The driver can declare no knowledge of the T&C the PPC hopes to impose, even more so if they never left their vehicle.
ANPR is simply a data capture system, nothing more. I have yet to see a court uphold a case simply because of the number being captured. No slam-dunk, although the PPC's would wish you to believe otherwise.0 -
Thank you to everyone.
I know that was an old thread, but I still thought the general advice was to ignore. I mean so far they don't even know if the letters have gone to the person responsible, since the car was sold some time ago and my daughter does not live here. Anyway, now that I was wrong, what to do next?
Yes it was Parking eye, but at Watergate beach I believe.
The last letter was the debt collection agency one. The next one will be from the solicitor, I guess?NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Since you are so far down the 'ignore' route, your only option is to continue ignoring. The debt collectors are toothless and cannot take her to court.
Also, don't forget that even though PE has become very prolific in issuing court claims, the number of claims they issue is still only a very small proportion of the fake PCNs they send out. So it is by no means certain that it will get as far as court anyway.
BUT if you get a letter from ParkingEye Legal Department headed Letter Before County Court Claim you should stop ignoring and fight back.
I suggest that you read this thread so you know what to expect and how to respond to the LBCCC if it lands on your doorstep.

You will be able to write an Acknowledgment Letter based on the advice on that thread (and it is in your interests to write the letter in your own words/style and keep it off the forum, as PE does read the forums).
When they reply (probably with another template letter) check the LBCCC thread again as it is constantly being updated. If it doesn't tell you what you need to do next or you need help, come back here.

Should be - this will be followed by an offer to pay a reduced amount, then silence as you've not fallen for their scam......0

Daisy.
Thank you for all the good advice on the forums re this subject. My daughter would never cope with that route being a teenager with many worries. I guess an easy target. Dad on the other hand likes to do battle... I look forward to the next letter and giving it a go.

OP - a couple of quick questions.
1. Is your daughter the Registered Keeper of the car?
2. How old was your daughter at the time of the incident (under 18s cannot legally enter into contracts)? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
