Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - over budget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

  • Good Afternoon all!

Had a bit of a scare with my car this week - I couldn't make the fog light turn on for love nor money; went down to halfords and got the bulbs all checked ... they were all fine ... turned out i just needed to put the headlamps on - not just the sidelights! doh! At least I didn't have to pay to find out :)

my plan for spending this week is ...

Sunday - up to £5 on things for work lunches
    Monday NSD and gym
    Tuesday NSD
Wednesday - £1 chocy bar because we have a late work meeting ...
    Thursday NSD
    Friday unsure as yet ...

so I guess I should make that £10 and be good! Will also need to buy petrol (but that will come out of the petrol budget). 19 days til payday!
  • I think I am going to try and have a low week next week, I got a bit wayward today as its my free council tax month ( the council cancelled my direct debit date and when I phoned up to correct this it was too later to reinstate *sigh*)

    The plan is:
    Sunday : £5 pub quiz
    Wednesday £5.50 fat club

Am going to round up to £15, just in case!
  • Hi guys!

Thanks ETO for starting us off again this week. I sort of lost track this week of my spends but know they were really low and my weekly spend purse still has £1.00 left in it so I will declare a £4.00 spend this week as I had £5.00 in it to start with. I use a spare purse for just this very reason.

I'd like to pledge £5.00 again this week!

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

    Cheers
    Casper

Thanks ETO for another shiny new thread. Where is this year going?

Oops, a few of us red last week including me £13.28 / £8 - I posted my rambling explanation on last week's thread but needless to say I don't regret my redness :o

So, this week I have a trip to a conference for work - hoping not to spend any more than my lunch but Glasgow can be very tempting.....

I'm off to a friend's candle party on Friday so I'll probably need to buy something. Think I'll take the car to avoid taxi fares though. And a night out with my sisters on Saturday - I hadn't budgeted for that but it's such a long time since we done it I feel the need to go for it. Hoping to spend no more than £40 overall though

    Have a good week :)

  • I seem to be joining most things at the moment, so will join in this week too please! I'm aiming to stay below £25, I spent £9.30 on car parking and lunch today so rest of the week will need to be pretty lean! That includes lunch tomorrow at work, rest of the week will be home made!
  • I was very naughty last week so will try and be extra good this week! I'll budget £30 as no big plans for this week. Fingers crossed!!!
    Tink
  • Also a newbie here (Shazzer - I promise that I'm not stalking you!!)

I get £10 a week as my fun money so can I go down for that please??
    Baby steps!
Current goal: Barclay overdraft up to -£1000

Welcome to Shazzer and GreenButterfly . Good luck with the challenge. Pop back and update as and when you can/ want.
And then pop back on Fri/ sat to tell us how you got on.

    Welcome back to everyone else.

Sorry for the delay in updating, had a very poorly little babba yesterday. Very high temp and constant crying. He wouldn't let me put him down. Bless him. But seems much better today.

    Well so far

Mon - health visitor, meeting at work (free lunch) get little man weighed so NSD.
Tues - going into town, boots have a special baby event, will try not to spend anything.
Weds - lunch for friends birthday - £20
    Thurs - NSD

  • Thanks for the new thread ETO!!

Hope little man is better today - poor little thing! Hope everyone else is well too!!

Not sure what's on this week...
My subs are due at rugby but I've budgeted that so that's cool.
We have our first game on Sunday though, so would be rude not to have a cheeky lemonade afterwards!! Otherwise, I'm working all week! :(

So, having bored you with my thinking out loud...
Going to plump for a budget of £15 this week I think!!

Lots of love gang! Have a great week!!!
:T DEBT FREE AS OF APRIL 2013! :T
