I think you're right, you need to wait and see what happens. If he didn't know about the mess he'll probably be mortified and will reward you appropriately, but if he did know, well, that's another matter. That's just disgusting.

  • Thanks all. The dog had been poorly while he was at work, so he hadn't left it for me. And there was a mat that I'd not been able to scrape all of two lots off - so it wasn't as if there was no evidence.

Yeah, will wait and see what happens. I posted as I wondered if I was being a bit money grabbing expecting a little extra for the (very messy & unpleasant) unexpected!

To be honest, if I'd been the owner, I would have expected a call to let me know my dog had had diarrhea as I might have been concerned and wanted to take it to the vet if I'd been ill the day before for example or was old, or had had surgery recently etc...

Yep, me too. I didn't know it had been ill the day before, the dog's not old or had surgery recently.... I go in before he gets home, and the time i'm there is the time he spends travelling home. I know the dog pretty well, and, having my own, would have very quickly realised if it needed a vet - and whisked it off to my own vet.
  • I would have left a note to say what happened but not asked for extra money. If you get offered extra for dealing with it that's great.
