    Thanks for the replies.

Tinkerbell - I am certainly not trying to save face why on earth would I need to, I don't know anyone on here. Being dishonest would be pointless when I am asking for advice. The reason I went in with a width measurement of the blind cloth is because I have used these people before and assumed they would use the same brackets. But the most important fact here is that I clearly stated what the measurements were and what they were of. And as I'd had blinds here before I knew they could get my measurements up on screen if necessary. I understand now that that is not the way it is usually done, but the lady knew what I had measured.

Thumbremote - thanks, I was losing the will a bit before I saw your reply lol.

    Spacey - I paid 50% deposit

Visidigi - the fitting is free because she told me originally that the fitting is free.

Frugal_mike - yes they're doing me one the right size now.

And, tinkerbell, I edited my post to make facts a bit clearer when I realised people might read it the wrong way. I thought this was a support and advice site
  • Who exactly goes into a shop saying my measurements for blinds are 150cm cloth width and 150cm window length.

I did. How dare you accuse me of lying when I am here asking for advice.

They are quite clear that they informed the retailer that this was not the width of the window, but was the width of the existing blinds cloth.

"I measured the width of the cloth of the blind and i told her that was what it was and I now suspect that she wrote it down as being the width of the window instead."

    and

"I thought I was perfectly clear on the day with what my measurements were."

well this is exactly what the OP states

no mention of the width of the cloth

No ones accused you of lying, so calm down.

What they have said is who would go in and give the blind width, of course you did, that's what you said you did, but the point was how is the retailer to know the width of your window - they have produced a blind cloth to your specified width.

So either your measurement was out, OR the bracket they use on their blinds is narrower than your existing blind, which means its capable of accommodating a wider blind cloth width than your current blind.

This means that it would be down to you not the retailer, they produced a blind to the specification you gave them.

Like I originally said blinds are built around the measurement of the window - not the measurement of an existing blind.

As for the fitting cost, yes fitting is free, but I can almost bet that they have T&C's that apply if the fitment requires more than one attempt then payment would be required.

I didn't, I measured the width of the cloth of the blind and i told her that was what it was and I now suspect that she wrote it down as being the width of the window instead.

If you can't read the post properly, or you don't have any constructive advice then don't bother replying. Didn't realise it was such hard work on here.

Thanks, but I feel I'm not explaining myself well enough, never mind I'll get it sorted somehow.

No they were not, they edited when posters pointed out their error....me thinks an embellishment to save face.

They edited after a single reply, and have said it was to make it clearer they stated the width measurement was of the existing bland cloth.
