You'll find plenty budget recipes on that site

Also, if you need internet for work, ask your employer to pay part of the contribution. I agree, cycling sounds like a good idea as does getting a megabus or a cheap train to see your daughter, if you book fares 3 months in advance you can get tickets for £12 each way or so.

What will your wife do about her job, is she planning on going back, how far is it away ?

if shes not, have you thought about moving closer to your work so you can save on the transportation costs?

This depends entirely on location, im paying £700 for rent, and i only live in a 1 bed flat, and thats a pretty good price for it too.

just because you can get a large 4bedroom house, doesn't mean others can in thier areas.

:T Hence the reason i asked location...
  • Hang in there friend; one thing I would say is prioritise: pay rent, food, essential utilities, then see what you can do with the rest. Never miss food to pay some bill. Change to a new basic bank account so that payday lenders can't get at your money. Also check if you're getting the right amount of benefits, on your income and having dependant children I'm surprised you're paying full rent and council tax. Be firm, and as my mother once said 'they can't take what I haven't got'.
  • ((HUGS)) You have taken the 1st step & listed everything down - the 1st step is the hardest! I was you a few years back & I suspect others on here know exactly what you're going through, too.

"Deleted User" advice is spot on. Especially CHANGE BANK ACCOUNTS to a basic account with a creditor you don't owe to asap, cos when you miss a payment they'll take it from your bank. It's true they can't take what you haven't got, deep breaths, it'll b ok, you're on your way. xx

Did I read somewhere else that you work in IT?

What sort of work is it? Could you do some freelance work? I set up websites for builders/plumbers etc in my spare time. Charge them £50 for set up, and do one or two per month.

Yes I work in IT, I even setup a website but just didn't get far with it.

I was aiming at doing similar but so far allot of the adverts on the Facebook pages did not work out :(

But yes I would do it without an issue.

Traveling to see my daughter (set by courts) £60 per month (she lives 160 miles away each way)

Do you do all the travelling, or does your ex visit you every other time?

If the former, perhaps you could approach the court, to have this re-assessed?

I am going to try and give them a call after work, need to get things sorted as even they have noticed something is wrong.

Many thanks for replying with numbers, the same with others.
