Oh wow that must be a truly amazing feeling, got 3 yrs to wait for that. Feel flat at the moment, just not a light at the end of tunnel. Could move house and downsize. Hate thought of wasting money on all selling/legal fees. Just tired glad its Friday and having wee glass of wine tonight.

Oh wow that must be a truly amazing feeling
I think it will feel even more amazing, when I get paid, make all my household payments, fill the car with fuel, fill the cupboards with food, and see how much (hopefully about £500) is still in the bank. You saving for anything in particular or just an emergency fund?
The £200pm is to pay for my Car and Contents Insurance, Road Tax, MOT, car servicing, and a holiday for me.Well smoke, drink and have sex you have deserved it Bedsit Bob ;-)
The smoking and drinking is easy, but the sex is a bit more problematic.
Care to oblige?

Just thinking any tips I need to know to keep focused?
Try not (at least in the early stages) to focus on what's still to pay, but rather on how much you are paying.
Focusing on the fact you've paid almost £2,000, is far more uplifting, than focusing on the fact you owe £10,700.
I think the 50% mark is the psychological tipping point, in that you are on the "downhill stretch" so to speak.0 -

Well done, Bob

I had my first payday since clearing my debt too. I put a few £100 in savings and allowed myself to get some nice (non-basic value) food in..it was lovely!
Wont be reverting back to eating stupidly expensive foods all the time again, but it was nice as a treat!
Enjoy

Bob,
why not keep scrimping now you are in the habit?
Use the money for quick to get at savings account in the first instance, then think about savings accounts with higher rates of interest. Then lastly, why not buy a few shares (I would advise high quality FTSE ones, but I wont mention any in case you think I am pumping something in particular, which I am not).
Then after a while you will notice that you are receiving interest and dividends, boosting your income, and at the same time giving you a cushion to fall back on.
It might not be for you, it is an option that is all. But think of the pain of all that interest paid. Interest received is the opposite of that, in both cash and emotional terms.
Please note, no investment is 100% safe. If anyone tells you that, dont buy the product they are selling.0 -
