Out of interest, what's the make/model of this quadcopter?0
-
Where did you buy it?
Did you check with them to see if it flew back home?0 -
I'm in the process of sorting it out with them.
It is understandable from their point of view that I could have crashed it, didn't follow the instruction, pilot error etc... But I am only just stating the facts of the event. So please, lets not get into this 'if' or 'could' debate.
The model and make is a DJI Phantom. Is a all in one ready to fly package. I flown it about 15 times with the problem until the disaster!
Regarding the 20 sec inflight, The gps was locked and the home position recorded. This is indicated by the led strobe light on the quadcopter. I made sure it had an accurate gps location lock i.e more then 6 satellite (recommend by the manufacture) before I flew it. So everything was checked before flight.0 -

And while it was flying
Correct me if I am wrong but does this not indicate a loss of GPS? You then switch the transmitter off and wonder why it doesn't come back?20 seconds into the flight, the led light under the quadcopter is not seen in the skyThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'd go over the instructions again to make sure you did have the Home lock recorded and locked correctly. I had a quick glance myself and it did look a bit complicated, maybe you missed a step somewhere. Had you actually tested this functionality before?yippykayeah wrote: »I'm in the process of sorting it out with them.

For example, I read this:
We strongly recommend youDO NOT try“Turn off the transmitter”, because
there are three types of risk:
(1) You must be pretty clear whether the Home-point is OK fo r landing or not. (You have to understand the definition of Home-point well and the working process of failsafe)
(2) If there are tall buildings around, the aircraft may be obstructed on the way.
(3) When GPS signal is bad or GPS is not working, failsafe will not work
Sounds to me that there could be a number of legitimate reasons why it didn't, therefore there'd be no liability.0 -
I flew in the country side with a clear sky. I have tested the return to home feature a few time before, by switching off the transmitter. This worked perfectly. I had Home Lock on for a few seconds (It appears it was not activated on my setup, so moving the back direction stick back could have gone off to any direction). However, this was only a brief few seconds. I then proceeded to switch off the transmitter to initiate the failsafe function with no luck.
Yes, GPS could have not worked when I activated the failsafe. Again, the weird thing is the quadcopter suddenly cannot be seen in the sky suggest power issue.0 -

Unfortunately, you will need the aircraft to be able to investigate the suggested power issue.0
