They have to leave a ceiling rose as someone already mentioned. I think they are just trying it on. They might take the stuff just to spite you and then dump it :( bumholes.

Our sellers were complete opposite, leaving us everything for free, even the conservatory furniture + blinds!! (guess they dont have one where they moved) We were surprised they didnt try it on but very grateful too :D

Although you can reasonably turn down their offer to buy these extras, I think it would be unreasonable to try to knock down the agreed price at this stage.

Tony: Congrats on finding a place on the mainland...in regard to your query, I would say to the vendor 'no thanks'...either they won't be bothered about shifting them on the day ( this is how it has played out for us) or you could pick up replacements to suit your taste.

    Good luck.

Thanks everybody. Well the news you all want to hear is that they've asked for ONE THOUSAND pounds for all of the above.

Now we don't mind contributing towards the fitted blinds and bedroom curtains but more for a convenience thing oppose to actually wishing to keep them.

We are leaving all curtains and recently made to measure blinds for our buyer so I was somewhat bemused with the £1,000 asking price.

I think you all know what my return letter will say :D

Wot?!?!?!?!?  They are living in la la land!! Tell them to please take it with them!! The vendor of the house we are buying is also 'selling' the curtain rails, blinds etc, I had a fit when I heard!!! So I have asked the EA to ask her for the prices and I am waiting to see what they are going to want for it!! I have already priced on ebay!!! Lucky if you get a tenner! I would rather hang sheets over my windows than be ripped off!! These people obviously drink a lot of ovaltine!!!!!!!!! AND we paid the asking price!!!

Oh!!! AND!!! They are moving to the Continent!! They can take it in their hand luggage!!

    Thanks for the congratulations Canucklehead.

We would still like the curtains/blinds as they are similar to what we would choose anyway. However if the negotiations fall flat because they still want this huge amount of money then we will buy new ones ourselves. Our offer is £200 for the lot which under the circumstances is very very reasonable.

p.s We have just had to re-market as the bottom of the chain fell out. Oh well, back to square one.

I believe if you start messing with people the whole chain could collapse. Its fine making statements but only if you are prepared to carry them out. Saying that you will drop the price by £1,000 implies that you may pull out if they don't agree with your price reduction. This gives the impression to the seller that you may pull out at a later stage or try to knock the price down on the day of exchange. I would only threaten to drop the price if I really intended to walk away if they failed to co-operate.

Making a statement like that also implies that you think the F&F are worth £1k.

Oh I see what you're referring to now. No, as much as I was slightly riled by the F&F asking price I wouldn't subsequently agree and then drop my offer by £1k to compensate for it. That just isn't me.

I have offered 200 English pounds for the items they have listed, if they say no, we'll just buy new.

Thanks again for all of your contributions.

Agree - in addition, there would only be a valid case for dropping the offer, if F&Fs were specifically included - either in the sale particulars or if Tonydee's offer specifically stated "to include F&Fs". Even then, there would be a lack of clarity as to exactly what the term F&Fs
    includes

In this case, it seems that the items concerned were intended to be excluded from the sale, but that Tonydee is getting the option to acquire them.
