I was asked if the rugby shirt i was selling was still smelly from the game. When i said no - ive cleaned it - the guy said ha well, shame - i would have bought it.

Weird yes, but we are all adults.

If the same person had said the same about my childs clothing - i would have been tempted to drive round and confront him/her.

There is no way this person is not some sort of perve. Report it, and if the police arn't interested - theres nothing you can do. But at least you tried.
  • To all those saying that as its not illegal no action should be taken, what about this scenario?

Your an electrican and you go to a clients house. You walk into one room and on the wall are hundreds of pictures of young girls that have been cut out of catalogs. Theres various items of childrens clothing including underwear and also a desk with a laptop on it.

The client is a single male with no children or relations.

Nothing illegal there, so your saying you would just forget about what you had seen and carry on?

Makes me question the people in this thread which cant see whats wrong with a man wanting to buy smelly young girls shoes, or think that it shouldnt be reported. :embarasse

I have not seen anywhere on this thread where anyone has said its right , i think all will agree its wrong, disgusting and totally out of order.
What has been said is that in this instance its not illegal or reportable as a crime.
as for your analogy, well that does show a little hysteria imo as you seem to be comparing both instances as the same, when they are clearly not.

But as you say, neither incident is illegal - so what would be the difference? Both involve someone with what I would call an unhealthy interest.

Just because what they are doing isnt illegal, reporting it would alert the authorities to a potential sex offender.

Yes i agree a very unhealthy interest but no proof of any wrong doing whatsoever which is the key issue here .
You say report them , for what? being a pervert? last time i looked that wasnt illegal.
A persons fantasies regardless of what you and i think of them ,so long as they remain fantasies are perfectly legal.
In your analogy , its shows again imo that the person could possibly be taking his perversion to a state of actually acting out which is illegal and must be reported.

Report him because you believe he may have an unhealthy interest in children because he specifically wants a pair of worn smelly girls shoes. The general opinion is that this isnt a normal request.

The same reason people/schools report suspicious people hanging around outside school gates etc.

As the slogan says - "If you suspect it, report it".

But again hanging around a school implies intent so yes report it.
Wanting a smelly pair of shoes does not show intent.

Again where did i say or suggest this was a normal request? as distasteful as it is its not illegal.

I think anything that has anything to do with children brings on a strong emotive reaction that sometimes goes overboard and brings on a knee jerk reaction.
Kinda reminds me of what happen in newport back in 2000

And he turns out to be a self employed advertising exec working on an account for a girls clothing brand. Equally as possible.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

How does hanging around a school show intent? Someone could hang around a school for a variety of reasons.

Name a few reasons why you would want a pair of worn smelly girls shoes?

Cant see the knee jerk reaction myself. I would say I have a weird/warped sense of humor - however this request is a little bit sick in my opinion.

The link you posted has no relevance to this thread.

Could very well be. Plausible explanation - everyone's happy. :)
