    Okay.

He is a capable human being, who used his own money to buy games that he wanted, what's the problem here?

You want to ring Sony? Ahahaha, it wont work, it's not a one click thing, like app games are on android. It has multiple "make sure you want this" options, before buying, especially when using a debit card.

To be honest, It's laughable he bought from the PSN, Maybe from GAME, Or supermarkets, but it's too late now, and really, you shouldn't be taking his debit card from him, when he earned this money himself, how would you feel if someone took your money away, even though you earned it yourself?

I will not be taking his debit card off him, as you rightly say it is his money, just trying to point out to him to be a bit more responsible and I am sure he has learned his lesson.

If there is a chance of getting even a partial refund then I will certainly try.
    ..
  • Consider the ps+ service... download 2 or three games a month each month for an annual fee of around £35. You lose access to the games if your subscription expires however you can continue to subscribe by renewing annually. At the equivalent of less than 3 quid a month it is actually paper round money.

i do hope he has been buying games instead of downloadable content. Friends children seem to want xbox points for xmas and birthdays and they literally spend £100's on fifa2013 on certain players for their teams or new strips etc. I really dont understand this.

Yes it was in two months. Son has taken responsibility for it he knows his money has gone but I still think its too easy to register your card. Seems as though you don't need to enter details each time as card was registered (now de registered).

Every time you buy something from the store it asks you to confirm.

It says are you sure you want to transfer £x.xx from card xxxx xxxx xxxx 1234 into your PlayStation wallet.

Thank you for that comment. I was quite proud of him earning his own money and the fact he had let it mount up but disappointed that school holidays, boredom, or whatever then chose to spend that amount on online games. He does realise he was stupid but I still think its too easy for kids who are not as worldly wise as some of the posters on here to spend large amounts of money.

    I agree with you.

Yes we have to accept responsibility for our actions but it should not be so easy for a 16 year old to spend that kind of money so easily on line. Did he lie about his age etc?

I hope you do get somewhere and get some of it back.

How difficult should they make it? A sixteen year old is able to join the army, to get married, to drive a moped - yet you are suggesting they need more protection from the internet?

    Jacque gave three examples...

Anyway, the guy is old enough to know what he has done. He may have buyers remorese now but its a good lesson that overall hasn't cost him to much.

As said before he should have gone and bought the games to then sell on but then if he is young looking he may have known he would have been refused!

And of course a 16 year old is old enough to become a parent. They've reached the legal age of responsibility... it might well be easy to register payment details, but it's easy to do that anyway. It's easy to hand money over at a counter and it's easy to pick up a stack of things and stick your card in a PDQ.

If you want to reinforce a point, then make him live on the money he earns (as far as is reasonable) and when he struggles, refuse to help, because he had the money. Hell, set up a parental account on the ps3 so you have to put in a PIN only you know to unlock purchases. That feature is in there. It's to stop this, you chose not to activate it.

No you don't have to re-enter your card details (and thank God because it is a pain in the neck to retype them all the time!) but you don't have to enter your card details on eBay, Amazon, Tesco, the local shop down the road, etc either.
Do you think the inconvenience of re-entering them would have dissuaded him from buying the games? I doubt it.

  • Wheres the problem ,its his money he earned it whats your problem,at least he didn't steal your money like some kids have. I think you have to realise that "kids" set a higher value on these games than we "Adults" do.
