Well the crisis that was looming at work was averted, more by luck than good judgement :o. After an almost sleepless night on Monday, less than 3 hours, disaster was avoided. Big lesson learnt - about checking details and more so, about speaking up. I hate looking stupid by asking questions so I hold back - and this really could have gone wrong, to the point of me being sacked.

I'm not really loving my job so far and am not sure I made the right move but I do need to keep a roof over my head and my CV looking good if I do decide to move on so I need to get my head down and learn from this

Not much else going on. Have stuck to my eating plan and 2 days on XLS - seemed to feel less hungry yesterday but will see what the scales show when I weigh in tomorrow. Heading to the gym tonight

Next sale lace skirt has arrived and is nice but the top I bought last week is going back - doesn't meet my feeling fabulous criteria! :p. I am desperate for tops - anybody any ideas??? Just not seeing anything I like at the moment!

Didn't make the gym as I was late from work - and the CBA'd! Eating has not been too good either - pizza tonight! :o Weigh in tomorrow, let's hope the XLS is working and the scales are kind! :p

Treated myself to some bargain flowers (£1.56!) in Tesco - still feel the need for a bit of cheering up :D

Off to bed now, with Elle and iPlayer! Still needing to catch up on sleep

  • Hello,

sorry to hear things have been a bit tough at work, I always feel like a little child at school when I ask questions :D but if you ask then it does show that you're making an effort to learn & get things right. No one can judge you for that :).

Wedding planner sounds interesting; it's sometimes hard to find any inspiration with career/work unless you have always had a particular passion for something, perhaps this will kick start a new path for you.

Can't help with tops I'm afraid, I'm refusing to buy anything until I shrink back to my right size. Will have to live vicariously through your purchases for now !

Hope you have a good day today :)

Good to see you back Shoe Gal and well done for reaching the half way mark :) I've started a new job this summer too and it's tough. It's a bit of a sideways move in field, so I'm asking a lot of questions and to start with my boss was either snapping at me or giving me the very bare information. She seems to have stopped snapping at me, Thank God, because that was starting to really pee me off. Now she just gives me the very minimum information. It is hard starting a new job, no doubt about it.

Oh was also popping in to say, I desperately need new clothes and I'm really struggling this year too. Everything's patterned (I don't do patterns) or cheap looking fabric. My fave shop is Oasis and I've just ordered a little cream knitted top that looks nice. Otherwise I think it'll be a case of plain jersey tops and cardigans for me this winter.

  • Crikey, I LOVE staff who ask questions... it generally means they're actually paying attention and will eventually be able to get on with stuff while only bothering me for major dramas! If you are shy about speaking up, how about emailing people later? You can always say 'I've put this together from our discussion earlier and I just wanted to make sure I've got everything right, would you have a quick look over it please?' Glad it all turned out OK and hoping you find more aspects you like. (btw wedding planner course sounds fun)

I'm not finding much I like in the shops atm either but as I did find the perfect pair of boots that I've been looking for for the past five years at an LK Bennett outlet, and my beloved Toast winter coat has just come up on Ebay in another colour, that's probably just as well :o

Thanks Arietty, Gwen and Rosa for your kind words and helpful suggestions. The last couple of days haven't been to bad, I'm doing the good job I usually do and the rest of the team have been good to be around. My line manager has been on holiday this week and a few things have been said by colleagues that made me realise that it may not just be me having issues which made me feel a bit better

I have lost 3lbs this week which I am really pleased with. I had been fairly good with food but rubbish with exercise so maybe the XLS did have some effect?

Took the Next top back and got something different, not tried on yet but will stick to the must make me feel fantastic rule when I do!

Quiet night last night, couple of well earned glasses of wine and some choc which were a cheering up present from a friend. Should be out tonight but the tone of the text I just had makes me think my flaky friend is working up to cancelling

Time to shift myself and head to the gym, but coffee first! :D

Fab catch up with a friend last night, sometimes it's good to spend time with people who just 'get you'. Much pizza was eaten too :). I wore boyfriend jeans, the new black Next cami which fits really well, red heels and a statement necklace - all inspired here :

I'm loving this blog, it's really giving me ideas and helping with my over haul

Went to the gym yesterday and did a good workout so happy to relax today - looking to move away from the all or nothing approach. Baked almond and raspberry cup cakes today and caught up with Real Housewives - another guilty pleasure :p

Mum's for tea now and then a drink with a friend tonight :D
