For all O'Leary's annoyances he is quite frankly a brilliant businessman.

I hate Ryanair's product through and through (and NEVER fly with them) but I cannot but admire what he has done.

Found the niche, exploited it and grew Ryanair into this huge business.

If I was him, I would set up a blood bank next to check-in.
For every 1kg of blood, you get two kg of extra luggage allowance. The rarer the blood, the more cash back.

He can sell the rare blood to the highest bidder, but sells the common blood to NHS. He solves the blood shortage, and gets a knighthood. And he gets to make some money.

Wait, in-flight blood donation. Put some comfy chairs in the front.
If you donate blood during the flight, you sit in the comfy chair.

You mean the man who flew to the US, studied what Southwest were doing, brought it back over here as an exact copy (which is no longer an exact copy as Southwest is unbeleivable value in comparison (two pieces of luggage included in a $50 fare from SFO to LAS anybody!?)

Family member was a pilot for Ryanair in the early days, it wasn't good, the planes were freshly painted frequently but they were underneath very old. He likes his job at Etihad now though

But he doesn't want you taking hold luggage, Ryanair's high hold luggage prices are a concious effort to price everyone out of taking it.
I think they've managed a 20% reduction in the last year and they're very happy.
RA are fairly close to the last airline I check these days, the price would have to be spectacular for it to be my first choice.
I've no use for a hold luggage allowance though, so if charging high for it helps seat prices, why not?

Ryanair do not want your hold luggage. That is why they charge so much - to put you off taking it. Apparently 80% of passengers now travel Ryanair, hand luggage only.
