Poor thing Piq. Well done on the new job. I would make up a completely fabricated new job - like on the Tills in B&Q - ie somewhere public which makes it harder for someone to carry this onwards.

Nice to see you posting again Piq :) and great news about the job. Like you I work evenings and don't like it when the evenings are dark and coming home from work, trying to find a job in the daytime but nothing round here.

    New job sounds lovely.
I agree that you should maybe fabricate a story about your new job being on the other side of the county or something. Hopefully should keep any trouble at bay.
I wish you much happiness in your new job. Perhaps you can start your pot painting again and get them taken up by the garden centre? Just the sort of beautiful things a small boutique garden centre would have a place on it's shelves for :)

Yay, congrats on the new job and already you sound more upbeat. Wait a couple of weeks until you get settled then casually mention that you have painted pots and would happily do custom work for the customers, you can't more boutique than that surely :D.

My piquant custom pot makes me smile.

Really pleased for you and don't worry about the old place. If you're paid weekly then a weeks notice should be plenty.

I'm having to deal with out of control hormones and not wanting to be in this job any more which resulted in uncontrollable crying yesterday and a day off and crying on the way to work this morning. It's hard to keep it in perspective but only 116 days until maternity leave which reminds me I should probably book that now lol.

Being afraid is horrible. I have done nothing except mope [and eat]. Soooooo.....

I walked into a local boutique garden centre, noticed that the coffee shop was struggling, offered to help. Within an hour I was offered a job and start next week. :j:j:jNo more evening work, just five days a week, baking, cooking, cleaning and serving customers.

Okay, the worst bit is yet to come. I'm working evenings this week and will be handing my notice in this evening. I know nobody will speak to me from that moment on, but I can do five more shifts. As I'm weekly paid I'm fairly sure I'm on a week's notice.

Feeling a bit queasy about doing it, but I can't stay there. I haven't had much luck in jobs since I was made redundant. I really hope this is the one where I'm happy.

I'm sorry you've had such a rotten time.

But also, can we just take a moment to acknowledge you creating a new job by just walking in and being awesome? :D It's brilliant news.

And finally, do you work with children? I only ask because I can't believe grown adults will not speak to you because you are leaving a job. Furthermore a job in which they have done precious little to ensure safety of their employees? At least they're making it easy not to feel bad about the notice...

I do love gardening and this is a very small, expensive centre.

So pleased about the new job and in a garden centre too:j

I too love my Piq pot, a bee one, and need to find a new plant for it for this summer, last year's Hosta now lives in a flower bed:D If at any time you decide to do more, count me in for another one please.

I agree with previous posters about the fictitious job, the fewer people that know where you are going the better at this stage.

Thank goodness for that. I'm so glad that'll mean you'll feel safe now.
Wow to being offered a job on the spot. I sometimes think I should offer to help but would never dare!
