HALIFAX Steer clear with bargepole!!!

I opened a new Halifax acc, following Martin's recommendation, in February.
Supposedly they transfer all your banking to them without any hassle....
JOKE .... I have had nothing but hassle.
DD's that were supposed to have been transferred have not been. DD's that I specifically asked not to be transferred have been cancelled at my original bank. 4 months on and the accoount is still not sorted.
I complained back in April and they STILL HAVE NOT SORTED the problems. I spoke to them again today (On an 0845 number!!!!) and after some time was told that I will have to wait at least another 2 weeks before they can come up with a response....WHAT SORT OF COWBOY OUTFIT ARE THEY?
Obviously they have so many complaints that they cannot handle them all!
I enjoy most of Martin's suggestions but this is one that has really spoilt his record.
BE WARNED : STEER CLEAR OF HALIFAX WITH A BARGEPOLE!!

Next time you need to speak to them use THIS PAGE and get them to call you back, it does work, I have used it countless times and only on 1 occasion did a moron refuse to put me through to the department I wanted, all I did was put the phone down, use the call back system again and got put through.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I've gone for one of these accounts also...
What doesn't amuse me is that for the online banking, they have records of me "would I like to reactivate them?", for expired credit card details from 5 years ago. You can cancel your account with HBOS, but make sure you cancel their electronic records also, or you are kept on record, in perpetuity...0 -
Ask for the case to he escalated to the customer service department. The call agent will do this as they can see its been on the system since April. You will have an individual assigned to your case and they will give you all their contact details so you can contact them direct instead of the call agent.
Also use saynoto0870 to find the local rate number. It works for 0845 as well.0 -
Tried customer services who have passed the case on to customer relations.
Just an excuse to delay longer as far as I can tell.
Thanks for the phone link.

Customer Relations is the complaint dept
regarding you saying that dd's have been cancelled that you didn;t want to be transfered - you can't pick and choose - they will apply to transfer ALL of your direct debits0 -
RegularSaver..... They sent me a list of DD's and asked me to confirm them. I phoned and specifically asked them to exclude some of the DD's as they were coming to and end. Obviously they totally ignored my instructions!
I was left to try to rectify the situation myself as the various companies were writing to me asking why their accounts had not been paid. This is totally the opposite to what Halifax claim in their advertising blurb ..... they say that all transfers will be completed by them and the companies notified to amend their payment bank details.... obviously they failed completely to do this In fact what they did was to cancel the existing DD's and leave no new instructions in place.
I have since heard of other people that have experienced the same problems.
I reiterate... STEER CLEAR OF THE HALIFAX WITH A BARGEPOLE!!0 -

When I've transferreed current accouts in the past a list of DDs has been sent with the option to score a line through those which are to remain untouched. Having never dealt with HBOS I don't know if their system is the same but I would hope it is.0 -
I don't think there have been that many problems if they are going to continue their offer soon
we were always told you can't pick and choose
Halifax will tell the companies to ammend the details, not sure what happened here then0 -
Yes, although my experience with this bank is short, I'd like to say they are absolutely awful.
I paid in some money to activate my account. It was in the account for one day, then the whole transaction history and balance were wiped out - not a trace of my money.
I've been to two branches and phoned them several times. Everyone just refuse to help, and they're pretty rude while they're doing it too, even though I'm paying for the call or taking time off work to get at my money they've lost. I don't know what to do...
As far as trusting them with anything critical, like paying bills - not a chance I would.0 -

Make a formal complaint. If you still have no joy, go to the Ombudsman, or at least threaten to. Of course I'm assuming you can prove that the money was paid in, even if just for one day, and hasn't been taken out by you since then.0
