I did want 3, but I think I missed my chance really.

I was given a promotion when my youngest was 2, and we were at the stage of discussing number 3. Unfortunately, I chose the job, money was quite tight at the time, extra money etc etc.

Anyhow I lost my job last year (I'd been there 19 years), my youngest is now 9, and I'm in a great new job that I love but it's a lot less money than before.

With the amount of debt we have, I dont think an extra mouth to feed would be a good idea

The moral of the story, dont put off having children for a job, it aint worth it.

Have to kind of disagree. We had three quite close together and life was a struggle so we waited and we lived life and we were quite comfortable. I had a well paid job and so did OH.. So we had another and thought this time we will be able to give this one everything she desires - no scrimping or scraping. How wrong were we! two months after getting pregnant OH lost his job. No problem - we managed for a while - then I had chloe and still no problem. Things were getting quite tight but I was due to go back to work - the day before I went back I was 'constructively dismissed' . We had no money, no benefits absolutely nothing. The first 18 months of my babies life have been both the best and the worst of my life. She has had less than the others and there have been days when we had no food in the cupboard and I have worried about how to pay for nappies. Freecycle and ebay have been godsends, along with this site and all the lovely people on it, who have been a tower of strength.

Moral is - never a good time financially to have a baby. You never know what is round the corner!

Sammy I'm really sorry things got so tough for you. That's life all over isn't it, you think you make the right educated decision, then the comedian who controls it all likes to prove you wrong. But you have your little one which is worth any amount of struggle.

My OH is still broody as hell, I keep thinking he'll snap out of it but I can't see it happening. He looked really miserable when aunty flo visited this month. But there are a million reasons why it's not a good idea, not least because I'm too old for all of that I'm 37. I've got a 16 yr old son, 2 girls 11 and 9. My little one has a collection of special needs, we don't know what we're doing with the business, if we're staying in this country or moving to the US/Canada. I just can't see where another baby fits into any of that.

I thought it was supposed to be me who got all broody, not him.

It was tough but I am a firm believer that these things happen for a reason, and I was taught a valuable lesson last year. Mainly that I lived a totally material life and didn't value the right things..

I could live in a shoebox now and I would be happy..

    And 37 is not old!!
