    Goooood Morning!

I'm so sorry I've not been here everyone to update you all (I'm kind of hoping someone has). I've not been home much over these past couple of weeks.

I've got some news though, I'm getting married on September 15th! We bought it forward because of immigration, it's easier to do it as a married couple so our lawyer suggested we do it asap. So, within a week we've thrown together a wedding. I've got about 100 guests so far and managed to book a posh hotel (it helps to have friends).

I've got to say this wedding lark is easy, I was hoping for a bit of stress to help shift a few pounds but so far everything seems to be going well (touch wood). I'm wearing a different dress, I needed a little bit of alteration on the ebay one so I decided to sell that on and buy a different one which fits perfectly. I'll post the photos for you when we're all done.

It's turned into a mini festival, we've got 3 bands playing and then as 70% of the guests are musicians we're going to have a jam session until we get kicked out, no DJ just live music all the way, we're even having a friend play classical guitar during the dinner.

I'm gutted thought that the only weekend we had free to do it was the Blackpool weekend, so I'll miss it. I was really looking forward to that.

So, what have I missed? what's your news?

    My news so far:

Me and Stu are getting along quite nicely, the anti-d's seem to be helping him, and he's got his grievance at work resolved and now has a new (temporary) job.

Natasha is 4 months old already and has just discovered the art of rolling over...arrgghhhh!

Ryan is now believed to have Aspergers syndrome, he needs a full autism assessment which will take a few months, but I'm pretty certain what the outcome will be.

Errrr...and I have put a pound back on.....

Spud, I'm sorry, I'm only just catching up with the thread and have just read about your hubby - so sorry hun, I hope he recovers quickly. My Dad got attacked at work once and it was awful. He copes by remembering it wasn't personal, he just got in the way....don't know if it will help your hubby to try and think of it like that? Big ((((hugs)))) to you both xxx

Aww Snags, I'm glad things are going well with you and stu.

My youngest is very autistic, she's developmentally around 3 years of age (she's 10). The procedure for diagnosing her was a bit of a nightmare to begin with. I suspected something wasn't quite right from when she was about 6 months old. At first I thought she was deaf because she wouldn't respond at all when someone walked into a room and spoke to her. Then she became really difficult to handle. To change her nappy was a battle; she would kick, scream and cry just because she was being touched. If I held her, she would push away with her arms rigid in between us with her face turned away.

But, despite all of these pretty obvious clues something wasn't as it should be, I was told I was neurotic, put on anti depressants and told by a midwife that i probably wasn't giving her enough eye contact, attention... love!

In the end I went to the hospital myself and asked to speak to the consultant paediatrician. I was told I needed a referral, I said I just wanted 5 minutes of her time. She came out and I explained the problems, I offered to pay for private assessments, she told me to see my GP and went back into her office. I went back to my car, while I was in the car park the consultant ran out and said, on second thoughts I'll write to your GP and suggest Amber is bought in for a few tests.

We then had 3 months waiting, by this time she was getting worse. She would spend all day sitting facing the corner of a wall rotating a ball. We had the first appointment in the hospital and then the fun started. Amber had every test imaginable; she had blood tests weekly, brain scans, hearing tests, ECG, etc. Within 2 months she was diagnosed with Fragile X syndrome, Autism and Epilepsy (even though she had never had a fit). Getting the diagnosis was such a relief; it meant she could now get some help. Of course, that's another story... but she's a complete little superstar and everyone who meets her falls in love with her. I adore her little quirks; she has the most incredible memory, if she could read she would be one of those people who can memorise the entire phone book in one sitting.

I know a lot has changed in the past 10 years, Autism is much more likely to be diagnosed now and there is a lot more help than there was, so I hope its all plain sailing for you. But keep pushing and don't be fobbed off. And remember, Autism means some things might be a little harder for Ryan, but it also brings the gift of the most incredible spirit and desire to succeed. I know it’s scary but the hardest bit is getting the diagnosis in my experience, once you have that the rest is much easier.

Thanks Snaggles, I'm sure he'll be fine.

He's due back in work tonight, so we'll see what happens.
