What was your father distressed about?

Edit: This might have been an insensitive question, feel free to ignore. (I'll leave the post because other ppl have seen it already.)

Lannie: He's not very well at the moment and not really quite himself. This morning he took a bit of a fall and is going on about how their house is too big for them (read him). Mother is not the most sympathetic of people hence the phone call here this morning. On the positive side he had good results back from the hospital. :)

Thank you and I hope so too. :) Father seems to have got much worse with his "I'm dying" act since my mother-in-law turned 60 though they have nothing to do with one and other. However, I think he has had a couple of health scares and has started to realise his age. They have also had some very troublesome tenants to deal with as of late.

I must say I am having a good week so far. Mrs. K. and I are off to the (free) concert later so currently looking forward to that.

Keep up the good work & Best of British for the audition.

I am curious though, did his "mummy" turn up to the company meeting in the end?

Have a nice time at the concert Alex.

Alex how old is your dad mine is 68 and still speeding around, mind you,its usually to the pub, lol. He has had some health issues but thankfully has come through them.
Your dad sounds like he needs your support which I suppose can be difficult when its you who looked up to him. Take the chance to get to know another side of him Alex after all we are all still children inside even though the shell has aged.
Im glad little K liked nursery. Mind you what child would not when its all geared towards the things they like.

It sounds like he just needs someone to talk to. It's inevitable that we have to face up to our own mortality at some point. It sounds as if he's going through that at the moment.

Re Dad - doubly difficult when you are an only child as it all falls to you. Its hard when you reach the tipping point when they are no longer looking after you and you find they need you to look after them a little - even if only as a listening ear.
Anyhow - feel pleased he can confide in you - hopefully it was just a bit of a glum mood - glad he had good health news.

That is the down side of BTL as a retirement plan...

Seriously, I hope your parents are good at buying in the help to make their lives easier. I am sure they could even find themselves someone to cook yorkshire pudding, if they wanted!

Sorry there has been no diary tonight due to going to see Sir Mark Elder conduct the Halle in Nottingham. What a brilliant concert, really enjoyed it but we did break the budget a little by having dinner out also. However, it's not often Mrs. K. and I go out these days.

    In response:

Granaries: Thank you. Yes, she came but no she didn't attend the actual meeting.

snookey: I had a wonderful time. :) Father is 77 and seems to be reflecting upon his actions over a lifetime, many regrets seem to be at the forefront of his mind. This evening when we picked our son up, he was very dejected; mother had been rather cruel to him this evening by all accounts though.

Lannie: I think you are sadly right. :( He and mother have plenty of people they are acquainted with but no friends, hence I am the one he has turned to. Well, that's my theory anyhow.

Roland: Thank you, I do worry about him. His own parents both had very slow, painful and rather upsetting demises. I wonder if that is weighing on his mind as much as his minor health problems.

theoretica: Indeed, they also self manage, mother does all the real work for it now alone. Even so, she is 71 and admitted that she doesn't see herself managing 12 properties for too many more years. Well, they're good at buying everything else, so I don't see why not. :rotfl:
