We are hoping OH's Rover will pass it's MOT tomorrow, if not I think he wants something similar. Landy would have too high a running cost plus I wouldn't drive it

Glad to hear you're back on the road, HBS.
I wouldn't say Land Rovers are particularly expensive to run, they have good owners clubs and generally rather cheap insurance. Admittedly, a V8 won't be cheap on petrol but a 200 will do about 30mpg.cazmanian_minx wrote: »My husband always says if he could have any yacht in the world it would be a Camper and Nicholson 55Me, well, I'd prefer this:

Can't say I've thought about yachts too much. Therefore, you are all a bad influence as I am now looking.

Hi Alex, saw a trailer for this programme and thought immediately of you.

Apologies that it's a review from the Guardianbut it was the first I googled.
You've been quite the past few days, how's the new term (new start) going?0 -

Sorry to hear about the Rover. One car .... ONE between two people, impossible. You need at least 3: one each and one as a back up.cazmanian_minx wrote: »One of the things on my 'to do once out of debt' list is go sailing on this:

I must be old before my time as I rather enjoy cruising.Only been a couple of times but that does look extra special. Maybe one day.

I read the article a few days ago and will likely watch the show, any ideas when it is being aired? I'll be interested to see if it is true to reality or if he's simply picked the best kids to perform; not really keen on the whole "cool" aspect such as performing in informal attire at unusual venues personally. However, I suspect he engages pupils well.
I've been "quite" the past few days, quite what? Assuming you meant "quiet", I have been awfully busy and had a lot to deal with in both my business and private life. Fortunately, things seem to be turning around now, though not had a great start to the new academic year.2018 totals:

How the other half lives. I am 56 and have never owed a car. Was going to use the money from my 21st to pay for driving lessons but it ended up bundled into the house fund and once I had a house, that + husband and three sons, took all my money. My husband didn't have a car either. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0

Living in a rural area a car is an essential, nothing to do with "how the other half live" as here just about everyone from 17 has a car.2018 totals:

The programme is on Channel 4 at 9 p.m. tomorrow. I don't know a great deal about it but it does seem to involve an amnesty for unused musical instruments to get them into schools and pupils playing them! Seems quiet a good idea to me.;)
Was reading a bit of chick lit today and the dashing hero whisked her off in a Riva Aquarama. And just think, only last week I'd never heard of one!! You're an education Alex.:)0 -
I don't think we'd even have 3 cars if we could afford it
one each is enough of a faff *chuckle*

Yes, seems a good idea if tuition becomes readily available though I cannot see that being the case. Unfortunately, state school parents often don't want to pay for anything, many failing to see the "point" in their child learning an instrument. I cannot really see what difference Mr. "Cool" will make; if anything I think his image could do further damage with parents not taking him (and therefore his message) seriously.
Always been full of useless information, me.heartbreak_star wrote: »I don't think we'd even have 3 cars if we could afford itone each is enough of a faff *chuckle*
