how can you not put the feet on top of a carpet?
Once the bricks are placed inside the heater it is very heavy and it requires a firm solid floor to stand on. Placing the heater on a soft underlayed carpet would not be safe and may cause the heater to become loose from its wall fixings. If it was to do that and fall forward it could cause major damage or if a small child was near it..........Do you really want to know more?

Dimplex mention this in there installation instructions, but to be honest it is just common sense not to do it. Why would you want to anyway? When you came to change the carpet you would have to cut around the feet anyway.

"WARNING: This appliance is heavy. The floor
must be checked to ensure that it is capable of
bearing the weight of the unit up to 177 kg (390
    lbs).

WARNING: Do not under any circumstances
attempt to move or reposition this heater
    without seeking expert advice.

CAUTION: The heater must be securely fixed
    to a wall before operation.

CAUTION: Do not install the unit on carpet or
any other soft surface. If installing in a carpeted
area remove the carpet and underlay so that the
feet rest directly on the floor. Ensure that the unit
    is level."

Sorry,I know nothing about the THTC tariff. My tariff costs £60 per month for all my electric.

Soozy. I removed the old and fitted the new heaters myself so did not have the problem that you are facing.

I hope that you can get things sorted ok.

I am with Scottish Power. The tariff is a fixed tariff until September.

This is my second year with them and I am very happy. Although pricing will depend on the area you live.

I've been following this thread for a while and when I spoke to the electrician who is doing our safety check prior to purchase he suggested also looking at the ecombi system from Elnur which he said would be cheaper and equally effective. Anyone encountered these before? Sorry the system won't let me post a link.

People on economy 7, do you find the heat lasts until you go to bed or does it run out earlier?

Great thread! I'm refurbing an all electric flat (49m2) in a 30's-50's mansion block. It has XLS12N's and a FXL24N. Are these what are referred to as XL series?

It currently has one in the bedroom but I see this isn't recommended. I have a number of questions, including what to do about that, which I hope somebody can help with.

    1) Will Quantums be any better? If the existing are XLs, I guess that's been answered. I'm trying to figure if it's worth it or just smarten up the existing (New casings? Re-stove?)
    2) What other types of heating should be used, e.g. bedroom/s, bathroom (Fan? Radiant? Underfloor?) and supplimentary heating if needed?
    3) It has 10m of uninsulated exterior wall with 12m2 of double glazed windows. Would adding 50m or so of insulation be smart or not worth the hassle/£?
