I have helped with a couple of family weddings and loved it. A couple of quirky ideas I found for my niece were these:

We had great fun with these ideas, some of the photos were great and the pieces of advice touching, she made an album up of them after the wedding. Another idea we used was to hang a large ornate picture frame from the branches of a tree and people stopped by during the party to have their photo taken there. There are some great shots. These are pics showing what I mean.
She sent her shoes away to be decorated like the ones in the pic too.
And her top table/cake table was lit from underneath like the one in the pic.

OH WOW! These are amazing ideas. Especially love the idea of the picture frame hanging in the gardens! Thank you so much again for all your inspiration, you have been fantastic xx

Oh-no, I never considered the hazards it would bring. Any advice?

How far are your guests travelling ?

Bear in mind if weather is bad some may choose not to risk the roads/get delayed/have trains cancelled etc . Older people may also be resistant to attending an outdoor winter wedding due to fearof slipping, arthritis etc.

(Sorry but if certain people not been there would ruin your day it's worth thinking about before deciding..... hopefully all your family live close and love winter weather tho :) )

My dad had to go clear the church path at 8am!!

We had to have someone come down and clear the hotel paths, also all grandparents had to be carried in. I had to walk from car to door in wellies and have photos in wellies to stop my shoes being ruined - fine because I had fun wellies but that's another reason we had no outdoor photos, other ppl didn't have footwear.

Also, our car was ok but if you have an old, classic car they often can't run in the snow!

Biggest thing was def grandparents and kids, one little cousin very nearly had a nasty fall but luckily her dad caught her.

At the end of the day though, you can't plan snow anyway. I think your decision here is more about what would happen if it rained. Rain is actually far more of an issue than snow as it's just horrible, at least snow is pretty lol. The cold is also the issue, no way could our grandparents and little cousins been outside. Thankfully our church lady went in at 7am to warm it up!!
