Sorry, also meant to say that I haven’t worn my heat holder socks since I bought neoprene lined wellies (Muck boots), they are a game changer - but aren’t ideal to ride in.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j1

When I read it I also thought what you're listing is def more a need than a want. Not only for your body to keep warm and healthy but also mentally if you look at things and feel they are past it then it doesn't give you a lift these cold dreich days. They way you are describing how they appear to you sounds like they are actively draining happiness.

Great news re the nectar points - next November see if they are doing the double up on points offer which I did this year for first time and turned £40 into £80 vouchers - max was £50
your wants - some sound like needs
quidco also doing flash offers - so big cb for one day only - I logged in to see if I had cashback and got the advent type thing which gave me 25 % cb off boots - was super busy but clicked thru to them - got some Xmas gifts and over £23 has tracked back ! Plus there is 4% on ZIPZERO so should be end with 29 % off (plus I got my student discount 10% .. plus airtime rewards
maybe keep an eye out to see if Argos have a sudden day only flash FB offerWhat’s the horse show? I need to get DS some stuffDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

MatyMoo Thank you for the muckboots suggestions. They were not on my radar and they look a good option. The show is my regular Christmas treat and a friend comes over from Spain for the event too. This year we have tickets to both the afternoon and evening performances on the same day but there is no chance of getting there early as there are 5 of us and it is rather like herding cats, plus, everyone has to be picked up and the driver (because she has a disabled badge so we can park by the door) refuses to leave early and always under estimates how long it will take to drive around the county collecting people but I’m hopeful I can shop between the two sessions. I too remember the bargains of years gone by. My guess is stand rents are so high they are not really possible any more but I still plan to shop to save me the stress of returning on line purchases.
And also @Arkers for your suggestions too. I hadn’t thought about those products either. And Argos! Who knew? Not me! Prompted by @MFWannabe I spent a happy time exploring their website and I think that is where my points just might end up 😊
You have all made me feel brighter about the spending. I know I need to build savings but you all raised great points. I will feel better mentally in clothes that are not exhausted and that keep me warm and dry.
The gardener has done 2 days. He has cleared the apple trees, saved one that has fallen over but announced the other was beyond saving and cut it back/down. All the paths have been cleared and three beds weeded. I questioned why he had just hacked the lavender back rather than removing it and he pointed out there were still some shoots on it and it might just recover. His point was if it comes back next year I will have saved buying new plants and if it does not, then, I can remove it then and buy the new plants so it might be a win. He is coming back Friday to do the hedges.
I would call this a success but (a) he is expensive although he does actually know what he is doing and is a proper old school gardener who has written books, worked on big estates and simply fallen on tough times, and (b) WattyDog barked continually making it almost impossible for me to concentrate on work. The first day he was happy for WattyDog to be outside but I realised that meant he did less as WattyDog thought his role was to provide sticks and throw things but day 2 he sprayed the worst of the paths and patios so WattyDog was placed under house arrest.
At the weekend I need to clean the sprayer (he used mine) and sweep the patio by the house as that is very muddy. Maybe when I get my new boots I will pressure wash it and re-sand the block paving although that job might wait until spring. I consider it money well spent as I now don't feel overwhelmed by the outside mess. The hedges were not really something I had considered trimming but having looked at them with him they do need doing. He also made great planting suggestions too for areas that are cleared. We talked about how the existing paths between the steps need redoing and he suggested a cheap option and a more labour intensive hard landscaping option. I might go for the later but for now they are good enough. Ultimately that depends on what i do with the house which depends on if I can get planning permission so, for now, just a reduction of mess and stress is ideal.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I won £25 on the premium bonds. I know I would get more interest with the money in high interest account but there is something about the thrill of winning I love. Plus the money is totally forgotten (emergency vet fund) so I feel happier with it there.
Also the win like the last two make me smile. I feel karma is gifting me the money.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Olympia season tickets were me and my best friends gifts to each other for years, until she went to live in America. Last year the planets aligned and we were able to do it again, staying in a hotel a 2 minute walk away! Heaven…….now saving to do it again someday. Loved being able to do the Masterclasses, junior classes and watch warm ups.
Glad the muck boot suggestion was of use.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j2 -
