This Time I'm Really Going To Do It

Kept trying. Took him away from lorry and made him walk up and down drive which he hates. Did lots of work on body language and stopping when I stopped and walking when I did - which is very good at anyway. Then walked lots of circles round and round by ramp and then up ramp and off again till he was fed up with that. Then when all that failed and I was totally fed up Mr Watty lunged him for 25 mins and then we started all over again. I had just about given up and asked a friend to turn up with her trailer intending to spend the day on trailer loading rather than go to show when he walked in.
Walked him off, and he loaded straight away again. At show he thought for a moment and Mr Watty slapped him on bum with the flat of his hand and he walked in.
Honestly LauraJo I'm no expert on loading. My last horse was a total sod and never loaded for me. I had a pal at the time who could load him and Mr Watty could sometimes. With that horse I tried just about everything, alternative horse trainers, horse whisperers, lunge lines, sticks, threats of violence and treats. None of it worked. Little git loaded when he felt like it and when he didn't feel like it, didnt. Right at the end of his life I found a lorry he liked and most times he would walk into that first time but by then I'd given up wanting to take him anyway. There was just no fun in taking a horse out that wouldn't load.
A friend is bringing her trailer over on Saturday and we are going to do trailer loading practice with baby and then just go for a hack. (she is bringing her boy over too). Will report back how that goes!
That makes me feel better - I have literally tried for hours but I have given up!Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

Laurajo if you have a trailer can you do all feeding it? Might be easier said than done in livery.
First time I loaded ponyplops I walked her up the ramp 99 times and she loaded on the hundredth.
No trailer
I could get one but OH thinks that if he wont load then there's no point in getting a trailer but I can't practice without one.

Accupuncture session on hand yesterday and the lovely lady did not charge me because she could see the accupuncture was not helping so thats the end of that trial. Back to smothering with pain relieving gel.
Decluttering seems to have come to a bit of a halt although did give away 3 bags of grass seed that seemed to have passed its prime (54) and found 2 packets of sunflower seeds which will plant to hopefully provide cut flowers for house (55/365) and ordered a clip to repair a piece of equipment rather than throwing equipment away and buying new (56/365)
Also chased company that are supposed to be paying for a builder to fix wall that their lorry knocked over. That would also remove bricks and sand etc from barn. Happened in Feb. Wish they would get on with it!
Aw what a lovely lady
Mine lives out too and he's 20 - not mean I'm just too busy so I need a hardy horse!
Watty - made me laugh about your comment to London at 5.30am, then home and horse and dogs! Sounds like we have similar lives. Home at 9 last night ready to get back up again at 5.30
Do people in your place also work crazy hours and have no life outside of work and just don't get you?!!!Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k

Hijack awayDo you have a vehicle that will tow? You could maybe hire one so you can practice.
I am lucky enough to have a friend with a trailer who bought it over for me and HandsomePony to practice with. You can hire them - sometimes with a landrover - or have a look at myhorsebox hire which is private people who hire out their lorries. I know it seems a bit of a waste hiring something just to go in and out - or not go in and out :rotfl:but hiring at least gives you the chance to play and be persistant. And certainly cheaper than buying just to mess around with.
With my last horse I used to worry that I would need to get him into a vet and wouldnt be able to and so was relieved when I found he would happily walk into a 6 horse lorry with SollyPony (my childhood pony) as a companion.
Mr Handsome needs to do more loading practice. But he will get there. Good luckMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I'm self employed and work by myself. I just sometimes have to go to London and do long days if the situation demands it. I'm lucky that I spend much of my time at home avoiding work :rotfl:and then desperately trying to catch up.
Like currently on line rather than reading the overdue report !;)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Overdue report read. Sunflowers actually planted rather than thinking about it. Ponies in. Finally secured promise from delivery company that they will deliver stock order tomorrow after I paid VAT on line. I've had an account for years and yet for this shipment they suddenly held it to ransome. Goodness knows why. Now dinner from freezer.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

What a gorgeous sunny day. Lovely. Work nicely up to date. Freecycled an old carpenters stool with some bits and bobs (57) and have finally lifted bridle bag containing bridles belonging to a pal from floor and am sorting through to see if any fit Mr Handsome (58/365).
Best of all cut some euphorbia from garden as it was trailing over a path and now in vase. Love flowers in house but MFW plans have stopped me buying any. Nice to have homegrown ones.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
