This Time I'm Really Going To Do It

Awful, Watty, just awful
did the osteopath say what could be expected? Is osteopathy the kind of treatment where "it gets worse before it gets better?"
I don't like writing about my health issues on other people's threads normally, but is it something like mine? A physical symptom manifesting an issue about your life? In my case, I've been doing this job (counselling and therapy) for much too long, and exclusively - most people do it for maybe two thirds of the time I've done it, much less intensively, and then go on to include other forms of the work - supervision, teaching etc. I've also concentrated on the job too much, not on my life. I'm only bringing it in because I didn't want you to think I was preaching - I'm just thinking about how miserable I often feel because of the lack of energy, but I now know that there's nothing the medical people can do for me.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Oh no, it's awful when you do something that you hope will improve the situation and you end up feeling worse.

Treatment can sometimes make things feel worse before feeling better from experience, though with long term muscular might be worth talking to GP about having some anti-inflammatory or muscle relaxant - then the work the Osteo does has a chance of 'sticking'.
In the same boat with my neck - though freed up neck movement, it's everywhere else in my torso now!
Feel for you, hope you can get some relief from it soon.Back on the DFW Wagon:

Thanks everyone. Greatly cheered up this Sunday morning by your posts.
Not been posting or even on here because not been going to well here. Pain got worse. Been to see osteopath again and the chronic headaches are caused by a neck adjustment which has affected an old injury. More work done. He says at least it has not got worse. Err no but things have been bad all week. Have done very little all week. Rode Most Handsome twice and bay of e sales finally completed And that's it.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

This is a really interesting concept and one I have begun to wonder about. I've spent my entire life working too hard to the exclusion of most other things too. And now I find myself with no energy whatsoever, I'm tired all the time, I have headaches and very limited mobility in the right arm - and yet - mri shows nothing wrong at all.
Earlier this week I printed off an 86 page report I am supposed to read and comment on and I felt very tearful. I have neither the energy, inclination or even interest to read the thing. Luckily it turned out two of the contributors have to read it first so I was able to chuck in recycling unread but I did note my emotional reaction and wonder if it was (a) caused by the painkillers or (b) a sign that really I need to seriously rethink things.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I do think that, it you get your mind in the right place, the body can follow too - but there's no easy fixes.

Sending hugs too, Watty. You work so hard, and focussed on getting rid of the mortgage in such a short period of time. Time to focus just as hard on you, please.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
