  • Hi Watty, I am really pleased you have had a lovely few days. You sound full of new focus and optimism as well, new ideas are always wonderful. Hope the account checking is a positive exercise rather than a panic-station (another trait of being self-employed I find!)

    Best wishes, ATB xx

Sadly the latter. Paying of the mortgage really did wipe us out. There is some money in the S&S ISA but I always discount that in financial checking. I find 2 of the 3 current accounts are overdrawn and rather paltry savings tucked away in others and I'm not actually sure I can pay the credit card in October.

I'm mortgage free and I feel I should be over on DFW :rotfl:
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Well still some tidying and cutting back to go - but - the saw was most helpful. Mr Watty has now returned the saw to its barn for fear I would cut everything back I was having so much fun:)

Sound like when Mr Goldie decided to lop the tree in the front garden.

He got up early one Sunday to do this, and when I got up a couple of hours later, looked out the window and saw a horribly stunted tree!

Thanks. The last push was a bit bonkers though and left us without much cash to hand and no emergency fund so maybe a crazy way to close but it felt right for us to do it this way.

And Martin has that good (tho old now) article about not having an emergency fund, if you have access to emergency cash, which you do. You'll have more cash behind you really soon xx

Really? I maybe ought to look for that. I feel nervous not having cash in the bank! Despite the poor savings rates.
