Hello de-lurkers and rejoiners  welcome back and Happy New Year ;)

So DD is away to nursery, DS and I just having breakfast whilst he watches "here comes a digger".

We will be going to sports d!rect later for some running shoes  and we might need to pick up (more) groceries - just realised I will be feeding him 3 meals a day all week, hmm. I haven't really thought this school lark through. Oops.

  • Thank you one and all! That pic was just a candid snap on my friend's phone, it's not great quality but captures the very happy moment. My sister sent me this one last night:

L to R: DSS, DSD, DH(!!), DS2, me, DD and DS1.

Can you believe that DS2 is NOT DH's son?! They are two peas in a pod, aspersions have already been cast but we met when 4 years ago and DS2 is 8. I won't bore you all with more photos but I just wanted to show off my gorgeous wee family :D

I have no milk, so no coffee :( Kitchen looks like a bomb site and WM is on load 2. Waiting for my broken car to be delivered home and have to go into town for birthday cards for FIL. My whole body aches, but I'm still smiling :)

    Morning

Have just caught up with the thread - only taken 2 hours and 2 cuppas!

Hugs to those with health issues and fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for all.

Thanks for all the supportive messages regarding my situation. Today's task is to inform The Council Tax and Tax Credit peeps. I'll look at the Housing Benefit forms when I get a mo.

So far this morning, the kitchen has had a little tidy, bedroom straightened and the bathroom has been steam mopped.

    Morning ladies!
Havent been around for a loooooong time, but need to sort this place out over next couple of weeks. OH died suddenly at Christmastime, and my bedroom is full of his mountains of gibble, thousands of LPs, programmes, fishing gear, toolbags and boxes, its the only room nobody else goes into so all rubbish ends up there, but need to clear it out so I can decorate and order new furniture now that I feel stronger. DD is on holiday so I can use her bedroom as a halfway house, but need to do the clearing whilst her and especially DS are not paying too much attention, he wants to keep absolutely everything of his dads, but since he was a hoarder of massive proportions that's not possible (Ive shredded every payslip he had from age 15 recently, and he had just turned 49 when he died, didn't like to part with useful things!) Once the bedroom is done we will need to hire a skip to empty the garage, but inside first before my GUAG runs away again! So bedroom for me this week, and hopefully once sorted will get back to the lists, as I am back to work early next month!!!
    RIP Iain

Thanks for the advice over keeping GCSE work. DS1 is doing History, Biology, Chemistry & Physics (he had to change from Media as it clashed with another subject). He would rather specialise in PS3 though.

    Morning all

    It's really really quiet.

FizzWhizz - congrats! Was going to say (before the explanation) how much DS2 looks like his Dad! And is DSS not 'yours' - because he's the spit of you!

Lancashire Hot Pot - am posting on a thread about it and another poster claims it shouldn't have sliced potatoes on top - she's from Merseyside which *was* Lancashire at one time - and claims it's the internet which has caused the misconception to be generated (about the pots) and it should have a suet crust. Well - I've been eating it since before the internet was conceived and it has always had sliced potatoes...any comments?

Congrats on the cricket trophy Mumto5 - happy dusting.

Joolz condolences...glad you're beginning to find the strength to deal with it.

    TMD *hugs*
These decisions are never easy; hope you manage to keep it amicable.

    Kitchen is it?

    15 Minutes..
Clear the floor of unnecessary gibble
    Mop/hoover the floor
    30 minutes to spare..
Shine the sink and draining board. Make those taps shine and twinkle..
Wipe down worktops and wipe down all small electricals.
Rehome anything that is out of place
    Got an hour...
Clean inside the microwave. A good tip is to heat up a cup of water in the microwave - the steam shifts all the yukky stuff on the microwave :D - am without a m'wave at the moment
Clean the window and windowsill. Rehome anything that shouldn't be there :D
Sort through your cookery books/magazines. Are there any that you don't need that are just taking up space? Rehome them to the local charity shop...

    Extra challenge:

    • Deweb, don't forget those corners
    • Clean light fittings/switches
    • Wipe down the doors
    • Empty those smelly bins
    • Clean that cupboard under the sink!!!
    • HHI - will keep my fingers crossed for this one - my "proper" iron is being slightly tempermental at the moment and if that goes, I've only got a travel one which isn't the best.

  • 2nd load in the washing machine.

Bread maker on for bulk bread making.

Kitchen cupboards now empty, cuppa then tackle removing all the plates, cups, bowls and cutlery.

DS and OH will be taking out the washing machine, fridge and cooker 2moz evening.

Feeling a little twitchy as very little to do.
Could tackle aforementioned bedroom but will eagerly await the list for 2moz :)
