Okay, read the other threads, and didn't quite find a thread, closely related to my requirements. Am after a wireless all in one printer to print black and white, on the odd occasion at under 50 pages a year please?. When I say best, I mean in terms of runningcosts, the ink, cause this can be very high, and I don't mind getting my hands dirty, with refills etc thanks.

You need to print more often than 1 page per week. Any printer will do. Every time you print you will probably need to clean the heads wasting quite a bit of ink each time so just get anything that has cheap ink.

At one page a week I'd be more inclined just to print out what you need elsewhere paying 20p a page or thereabouts. Do you have a people that you know that live nearby? If you aren't worried about cost then just buy any printer. Mine is an Epson 515W and the inks are £1 each cartridge (there are 4 cartridges one for each colour) and last about 100 pages each...but they won't last two years before going out of date and clogging up more often.

Cheers where you did you buy your one, and these 1£ cartridges where can I get more information on the printers compatible with them?

I wouldn't get an inkjet, chances are the nozzles will clog up from being unused.

A cheap laser's probably the best bet, but find a way to cover it to keep tthe dust out.

Without wanting to sound flippant. Is it plausible just to write down what you need?
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Thanks, when you say to write down what I need do you refer to what I need to print?. If so just some general papers, or the odd university assignment.

Just got mine from Amazon (it's no longer the current model) and the ink's from Ebay. Although I bought much more than 1 to get a discount. I think the local computer store sells them singly for £1.50 each.

As Skivenov says, if you really want a printer you need a laser. At 50 pages a year the supplied toner will last 50 years or so!

That's about it. If you're after the moneysaving, can you print stuff at uni?

20 years..each toner lasts for 1,000 pages on average. The toner costs £28.92 on Amazon at the moment...although the included starter toner will last 500 pages and therefore 10 years for £60.46 so probably just as good.

Total cost would then be about 12p/page over the 10 year life of the first starter toner.
