No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries September 2013

Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this...but was wondering if anyone can recommend what to do with loads of out of date beauty stuff I have accumulated. Feels wrong to throw them out but they are well out of date so was wondering if they could be repurposed - especially since I don't have time for a beauty routine anymore - all I really use is soap and water and a bit of hand cream (of which I have more than I can use).
Specifically I have loads of face creams, facial scrubs, facial washes, shower gels, shampoos and body lotions. I guess I can use the facial washes and shampoos as hand wash? But what to do with the rest?
My feet have had all sorts of things used on them that were out of date with no ill effects . Facial scrubs as footscrubs, bath stuff as foot soak.
Today when decluttering I came across a callus knife with spare blades, I haven't had to use it in years due to foot pampering and lots of creams rubbed in.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... A quick update so I don't forget:
OUTs...
11 - Lush fun in yellow vanilla - this was a bubble bar, really soft lovely bubbles but between times it sort of melted into a bubbley custard. Lol.
12 - Sensodyne Pro Namel toothpaste - WBA as I have sensitive teeth
13 - Bare minerals prime time foundation primer sample - used this yesterday morning before a 12hr working day (I had an art event in the evening) and it worked very well. I have other primers in stash though.
14 - Oral B complete mini toothpaste - OK but a bit liquidy. It was mouthwash and toothpaste combined. WNBA
15 - Liz Earle cleanse and polish mini - love love love, have bought a big one as insentive to use everything else up. Moisturising and somehow sorts my spots too. WBA
Right, off I run to get ready for work!Cookie, I think you're tame. :heart2:

I will go to lush when they release the Christmas items ( have a £15 voucher and 10% voucher to use) which I am excited about, my lush stash has never been this low for over 5 years . My birchbox is waiting at the post office and I do have a parcel ordered a few weeks ago that should be with me this week some of those items are for Christmas presents but I will class them a ins when they arrive and only outs when they actually leave my house.
Just to warn you, I don't think Lush accept the 10% vouchers anymore. Might be worth trying though I wouldn't count on it.Cookie, I think you're tame. :heart2:

Not a wintry scent at all, perhaps the 'winter' bit refers to the cream being extra moisturising. A really nice scent though, one of the best Avon have done in shower stuff.
I've put it to one side whilst I use up the creams/gels that are open inc. a 3/4 full BS Moringa 60ml mini I'd forgotten about, found whilst decluttering.
Trying to catch up with you all. Another manic week at work. I like the sound of this shower gel but really know that I should not buy any more. I have a Sandalwood Vanilla Yankee Candle burning in the living room at home - this fragrance always reminds me of Autumn.I can't believe how quickly September is going, I am quite proud that I have not ordered/ bought anything for 2 weeks apart from cotton pads. I do need deodorant but that's it. I've seen the Lush Christmas items too. Wonder when they will be released. I will be in Manchester next Saturday (going to see Bruno Mars - am so excited) and am planning a little look in Lush.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Just be careful of the Smashbox primer if you have oily skin. I have combination skin and it did make my oilier patches more so.Ok...you caught me, I'm a toiletries hoarder! It's true! I found the link to this thread from the hoarding one and thought 'I NEED to join!! It may just save my (bathroom cupboard's) life!!
I work for a lovely cosmetics company..I love my job, but MYGOD it means I have a lot of things from there.
I had already decided I was going to make sure I was using lots of things up, but things are still coming in and being hoarded too so I need to join.
I think you will understand my predicament when I tell you that the company I work for is L*sh. I'm sure there are a few on here who have hoarded lush stuff in their cupboards so good to know I won't be alone
I hope it's ok to join now, so should I declare my stash? I might need my own thread....
Welcome. I'm a late bloomer where Lush is concerned. Am loving their soaps - at the moment using Porridge. Very scrubby.rogueylawyer wrote: »For the LE fans, I've just received an email saying the 100ml C&P pump plus two muslin cloths is £9.50 until Tuesday 10am or stock sells out.
I put two in the basket and then closed the page, must not buy, must not buy...
Yes, I saw this and whilst it's a great offer I did resist. Do have a 200ml tube of C&P in the stash as well as the two pumps on the go at the mo (Ltd Ed 150ml for me and 100ml original for Emma).Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I've always taken my lead from what is put into sachets. I never use more than 10ml of any shampoo or conditioner and usually less. 5ml seems to be the least I can get away with.
Shower gels - I use a large shower puff and just 5-8 ml brings up lashings of lather. I can't use more, it would take ages to rinse away.
Lotion is more variable. 30 ml per whole body application seems a bit too much, 25 ml roughly right. However I'm 5'9'' and fairly well built. If I was a 5'2 lady jockey I'd use less.
How do you measure out an application? xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!
