Home check from CP

the only problem I had with CP home check was that they didn't want the kittens left home alone for 8 hours. As we worked a mile from where we lived I agreed to pop home every lunchtime. (Got bored with that after a week when the little darlings refused to wake up and see me at lunchtime)
I then worked as a home checker for RSPCA for 10 years. A lot was about the chat - making sure people had considered cost of food & vets bills, what they would do for holidays. For a dog we wanted to see that they had a secure garden or yard. It was also about making sure the whole family was aware of what they were taking on.
You sound fine - I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.0 -
We recently had a home check for our 14 year old rehome with 'issues', she is mega aggressive at times and unpredictable!
We also had a lot of information from her foster carer including a pretty full history - this has helped us a lot in managing her behaviour.
Though we thought we 'knew it all', we did not, and had to do a lot of research about handling her behaviour, she hid for a long time when she came here and was subsequently very defensive and nervous. She has now been with us for 4 months and tends to get aggressive now when 'crossed' (eg when she is sitting in husband's chair and he wants to sit there and will growl and spit)
Not a suitable cat for the unwary or those with young children but can be very loving and cuddly. Also very needy and I would be reluctant to leave her.
Hats off to CP, they prepared us well and gave us a lot of support, I would say the home check is necessary especially due to the history of some of their cats.
Good luck, go for it!
Hats off to you for taking on such a difficult cat.
CP have been and we have been assessed fit to be able to take one of their cats, just got to arrange to visit him now.Make £2026 in 2026

Am waiting on a reply from the CP lady to organise a visit. Feels like waiting on an email from a new boyfriend, will he, won't he.........
If we're successful, I'll post pictures. Don't want to post our 'intended' up now in case somebody beats us to him. He looks a very handsome chap.Make £2026 in 2026

Update - we visited our first choice cat on Saturday (we've been on holiday, hence the delay), but there wasn't the connection there so we decided he'd be better off with somebody else.
Rechecked our local CP branch's cats and found a couple of other cats which could be possible. Visited the first one of them last night, fell in love in about 2 minutes and he's coming home with us at the weekend.Make £2026 in 2026

When the "lady" from Cp came to visit us it was no surprise when she said she worked as a drs receptionist.
I think she would have been rejected by the recruiters for the SS for being a bit harsh.0 -
Oh he is gorgeous, does he have a name?. You must be so excited.0

He's called Tim, not particularly keen on it but will probably keep it as he's used to it.Make £2026 in 2026
