Now that you've stopped blowing your own trumpet and we can hear ourselves think ...
What makes you think - a - that the viewers are all under 40, and - b - that the OP is 'trying to sell' to under 40s?
They may well be selling a managed retirement property, for all you know. Or a bungalow suitable for downsizing pensioners.0 -
I've had letting agents not turn up to let me in for viewings, really annoying when you've spent money on travel.
I've wanted to cancel viewings but no answer or full answer phone at the estate agents.
It can also be people cancelling but the estate agent not passing on the into.0 -

I was a teacher six times longer than that, but I wouldn't write off an entire generation on the basis of my limited experiences.

WHY DONT YOU LET THE SELLER KNOW YOU ARE NOT TURNING UP
Because generally speaking the buyer is dealing with the seller via the seller's agent, not direct, so you don't necessarily know whether they're a complete no-show, or whether they have told the agent, who has failed to pass on the message.
Also, I don't know about you, but since the advent of mobile phones, I don't write down or memorise phone numbers any more - it's all stored in the phone, and the battery of that can (and does) run out. Result = shutdown phone and no access to numbers. Or trying to locate a phonebox.
If it bothers you that much, get the EA do handle the viewings - or certainly the 1st viewing (you could do 2nd viewings) - that way, potential buyers aren't wasting your time, and the agent is doing what you pay them to do!0 -
I have been lucky all my viewers have turned up or cancelled in advance.
I cant say the same for some estate agents who seem to be unable to operate a diary system.0 -
Unfortunately, its the nature of the beast I'm afraid, people don't turn up, or the people that do turn up you instantly like or dis-like, then you think can they afford to buy my house, are they wasting my time etc etc - its human nature.
Going back to cars, this is presumably why "webuyanycar.com" was established, so you did not have to deal with the general public, tyre kickers etc - maybe I should go onto dragons den with "webuyanyhouse.com", maybe? maybe not!0 -

I wouldn't, it's been done. So have vendors who used them:

I speak as a 42 year old raised in Northern Ireland with impeccable manners - my manners are such that I actually got a reprimand at work at work 2 months ago for 'thanking another department too effusively' which they found oppressive. I kid you not. Public sector, local authority.
So someone being so rude as to not turn up to an agreed appointment - so rude but that's the lovely generation of people you are dealing with - I was a teacher for 6 years to this generation; don't get me started - the parents undermined the teachers every time -and this is the selfish generation you are trying to sell to.
You don't sound as though you have impeccable manners, to be honest. To call an entire generation 'selfish' implies that your opinion probably isn't worth very much anyway.
I am 23 and would never cancel an appointment unless I had a very serious reason, and even then, I'd make sure I gave a good amount of notice. I have, on the other hand, had a couple of 'no show' estate agents when trying to view properties, one of whom was definitely over the age of 40. Despite this, I wouldn't write off the entire generation as 'rude and selfish'.Mortgage received 21/12/2018
