Thanks for the input. I think the main problem for her is that he has in the past mistakenly sent texts to her that were meant for someone else - he'd told her they were no longer in contact. Also the type of job he was doing the day this incident happened - wasn't a big or complicated job and the roads were good - he was gone for a lot longer than was needed to do the job, the amount of time that cannot be accounted for. So although it comes across as she's being clingy I can sort of see why she's upset. Think I'm just going to continue to give her moral support and be there for her.

I very much suspect that the 'friend' is a very insecure person who probably drives her bloke to look elsewhere. Whether he's up to no good or not he must be absolutely sick of being checked on and to be timing him on a job and checking the road conditions screams of neurotic behaviour on the OPs (sorry, friends ) part
