asda insurance missold

2 years ago i bought 2 laptops from Asda and payed £50 per laptop for 3 year insurance.
last week i tried to claim on the insurance on one of the laptops to find out that Asda don't insure laptops and i was missold the insurance.
after hours in store and on the phone i managed to wangle a replacement new for old laptop and a refund on both insurances but my question now is i have a 2 year old laptop that now isn't insured.
now this isn't right as i payed for that laptop to be insured. i want to know where i stand and if i should be entitled to 2 new laptops in case the 2 year old 1 breaks in the next year. i have also been told that asda now do an insurance for laptops but when i asked if they would cover my 2 year old laptop they refused to cover it, even when i said i would repay for the cover
any help greatly received.

They missold you the insurance, so have refunded both and then replaced the broken one with new for old.

Considering the depreciation on laptops, I think you've done ok already.

Also by accepting the refund on both policies, you've accepted their settlement if you like.

Yes you paid for insurance, discovered it was missold, so accepted the refund of the premium, which would not leave you with an ability claim, or entitlement to ask asda no.

They have acted fairly I think in this instance.
  • You have a refund for both policies
You have a new laptop too
You want a 2nd new laptop for free, just incase one breaks?!

    Get real! That's ridiculous.
  • That's not what i said. I want the other laptop reinsured incase it breaks. i am willing to pay to reinsure it but they aren't willing to insure it and its that i think is unfair

That isn't them, it will be the insurance underwriter. They won't insure 2 year old electrical goods, it has to be done within a set time of purchase.

You were offered and accepted a refund on the policy, so take out contents insurance with that or something, or put it towards and existing policy.

    But you did say:

Anyway, as has already been said, you were offered a solution to the problem and accepted that solution.
That really is the end of the matter.

It is now too late to be thinking "oh, that was easy, I wonder if I could've got more?" ;)
  • i haven't yet accepted anything, i am wondering what i am entitled to. yes i questioned 2 laptops but i only really want what i am entitled too. i am using the website for advice, not to be picked apart by desperate people seeking attention, the only person actually being helpful is tinkerbell.

OK then, I'll leave you to it.

But if you say something and then deny it, surely you cannot be surprised if someone points it out?

It also appears that Tinkerbell thinks you have accepted Asda's offer. Glad you have put that right too. ;)

    Good bye.
  • i apologise for not wording everything correctly, i am not an expert on this and wanted advise that is all to then get picked apart for things like wording of things really restores my faith in humanity... not

I think you are extremely fortunate to be offered the insurance refund on the laptop they have replaced.

I'd take the offer and run laughing to the bank
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
