How much is the 'look' of an oven important.

I'm sitting here looking at what I think is virtually the same oven.
I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. I needed to replace my oven quickly after being let down by boots appliances 4 times over a 2 week period and this was all I could get to take away at the time.
The steel is never clean, looks scratched and generally worn but worst of all the temperature is totally inaccurate. I can only use it in conjunction with an internal thermometer (which record differences of up to 20 degrees). Hotpoint were called out to the temperature problems only to state that 20 degree difference was an acceptable tolerance.
I'd stick with what I wanted, even if there was a delay. As LEJC sais I'd be asking questions about the delay and your options.0 -
Only get what you're happy with.
Don't let them rush you into taking an inferior appliance.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
I'd like to be able to say that the look of an oven for me came way below its functionality and price. However I am a super fussy person when it comes to the style of things in my home. It wouldn't matter if I could create culinary masterpieces in the thing, if it looked wrong to me it would grate me for years. A kitchen refit is a big job and one you want to get right first time. If I were you I wouldn't rush into purchasing an appliance that you are not genuinely 100% happy about. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

I'm with the people who say get one that you are happy with. you are going to be looking at it virtually every day for the next few years.
To me/us looks are very important whatever we buy. To the extent that we are prepared to compromise on other aspects like practicality or efficiency.0 -
Can only agree with the previous posters. You are spending a lot of money on a new kitchen why ruin the whole room for the sake of an oven you don't like? There are so many options out there it should be possible to find one that is both efficient and looks good.0

i'm going back after work now to discuss my options. I have no problems with waiting for my oven to come in stock, therefore putting the kitchen back a few weeks. However as it's a big job, walls being re-done, cement floor laid etc I'm guessing the company doesn't want to have to contact all it's different contractors and re-schedule.
I'll see what else they can offer. I did say ont he phone what price can I go to (so i could look online and find one I liked) but 'it doesn't work that way....'. The one they've offered is £300 more than the one we picked, but that doesn't really matter if I don't like it.
Hopefully, I'll find something in store later.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

For me looks are important for expensive things like an oven, it's not like most of us can afford to change them on a whim if you don't like it. I would rather do without for a bit and get the one I wanted.0

We have only had three (built in/under) ovens in 22 years, and the latest one is a Neff single, which was reduced to under £300 in Comet. It seems to work fine (now three years old) and is easy to clean.0

Ive just installed a new kitchen. I found the oven I liked for functionality etc then paid more as the next one up in the range was better looking
The look and feel of an oven/kitchen will always be one of perspective some people generally wont mind how it looks as long as it works etc. Hoever the fact you raised a question on a forum about it means you clearly do care about the look! Find one you like or you will regret the decision.Comping Since Sept2013Wins so far - Chips, Billy the lion.:j Thanks to all Comping OPs :j:beer:0
