It means it is available in some areas. Or in other words only some of the cabinets in your town have been upgraded.

Says its not available to me, i now understand the cabinets part and why i can't get it, its just very frustrating that if i moved two streets i could get 15x my current internet speeds.
And of course there's no way of finding out for certain if or even when my home will get it.0 -

In my street (of 20 houses), if you live at 1-6 you can get Virgin, but in numbers 7-20 you can't!
Very frustrating as they keep sending out leaflets saying to move to them, which is impossible.0 -

Haha how bizarre I have the exact same scenario! 1-6 can get Virgin Fibre yet 7-32 can not which I am part of obviously! Doesn't stop them posting me leaflets saying my street is cabled and why have I not signed up yet?! Grumble grumble...0 -
My mother is in the same situation. I wonder how many people are being pointlessly contacted. It's bad enough that Virgin sends ads typically at least twice a month (if you haven't been interested the previous couple of dozen times how likely is it that one more leaflet will persuade you?) but to send letters addressed to people who have no chance of getting the service is ridiculous.0

It is postcode based, not property-based so this explains the issue as the amount of work to weed out the odd mismatch isn't cost effective.
When buying, it makes sense to checkout these things in advance - south facing garden (satellite) and cable availability!0 -

Don't sniff at it, some people dream of getting 8mb.0
