Been a home brand it would be a lower quality than a main brand and would have needed stirring before using.
were you applying on
a painted plastered wall
a painted wallpapered wall
a painted textured wall
as these would make a difference in coverage
That's a pretty sweeping assumption. Most brands are just that nowadays...0 -

I picked it because I liked the colour, none of the colours in the main brands were quite right. I assumed it would be of a reasonable quality. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

own branded paints are lower quality than crown/dulux etc. some crown/dulux paints will keep their thickness and have no need to stir them.
I know Homebase and B&Q used to have their own brand paints produced by Johnstone’s Paint and having used Johnstone’s Paint which has always needed stirring and the worse paint i have ever used as it never covers what it says it should0 -
yes main brands are quite limited these days.gunsandbanjos wrote: »I picked it because I liked the colour, none of the colours in the main brands were quite right. I assumed it would be of a reasonable quality.

Just as an FYI, OP, I had an issue with the quality of a B&Q own brand paint. They asked me to bring back a) any remaining paint b) my receipt c) photos of the issue. I provided these and they happily refunded.
If you bring the same to Homebase, I'd hope their wouldn't be an issue.
You could try contacting them first in case there's anything else they need

Thought I'd update this as I hate it when people don't let you know the outcome of things!
I went to homebase and the lovely girl on the customer service desk did indeed refund me and give me a fresh tin of paint:D
Well done Homebase:TThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Well I repainted my walls today with my new tin of paint, it was like night and day from the old tin!
Went on really well, coverage is great. Wonder if I just got a "dud" tin before? The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0
