First weekend Color Run in Manchester (yes they really do spell it that way!)
And the favoured charity is about illiteracy and poor spelling?scubaangel wrote: »Second weekend my best friend from Uni is coming down to see me and our friend from southern manchester (I think my Dad's away that weekend so will suggest they both stay here).

Yes. Especially as it uses rather different muscles from running.scubaangel wrote: »Fourth weekend am off up to Scotland for a housewarming/official end of employment party for a military friend, that one is likely to result in a hangover so am planning to book train tickets using the refund I got from the delayed train back from London.

It does. Over the past two weeks, I've read about 30 books, and that's just picking them up every so often and reading a little. Obviously at work, I have to read their stuff - which doesn't count."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

It's Save the Children, so yeah possibly they're trying to save them from illiteracy.
The second weekend with be fairly sedate, the friend coming down doesnt drink much if at all, so it'll be more of a catch up.
I plan to get back to the pool this week and will attempt to get to the Quays to try the open water swimming sunday morning next week.
The books are via goodreads, some are first reads aka their win a book competitions others have been sent by the authors specifically for me to read and review for them, either way I'm not doing a good job of getting them read and reviewed. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Well they're not doing a massively good job at saving themselves with spelling like that.scubaangel wrote: »The second weekend with be fairly sedate, the friend coming down doesnt drink much if at all, so it'll be more of a catch up.

Planned on reading while unemployed, now employed, the reading has slowed down.....I think there are only a couple of other books I'm being sent which haven't arrived yet so with any luck the pile ought to start to reduce over the next week or so.
The rest of this post is brought to you thanks to a bottle or two of wine.
Feeling oddly lonely this evening, after speaking to my newly married friend and another good friend who is in a new relationship I feel like everyone keeps reminding me how fantastic it is to have *someone* and I don't, it's been almost a year since I got shot of the guy I was dating down south and with everything else I've had to deal with although I've thought about it occasionally when I've met vaguely attractive types out with friends I've felt that I particularly wanted to change my happily single status enough to actually make an effort or express an interest to them.
Currently reminding myself about all the bad bits - snoring, sharing the bed with a human shaped heater, not getting to do what I want when and with whoever I want among others. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Minor irritation of the day so far - AppTrailers not sending me the 50c I redeemed for instantly - instead my account is going to be reviewed in the next 2 working days. Not like I've done anything wrong with using the app but until this redemption is in paypal I'll not be using it.
Slightly bigger annoyance is having spent 45 minutes scanning the barcodes on books to see if they can be sent to amazon via trade in, so far there has been one which they'll give me money for. Will have another go at some of the remaining stacks of books after a brew! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

It'll be reading rather than luck. Though your busy social whirl will crimp that even more soon.scubaangel wrote: »The rest of this post is brought to you thanks to a bottle or two of wine.

Whoa right there. It's not fantastic to have a generic *someone*. It's fantastic to have a specific "someone" who meshes with you to form a whole greater than the two parts.
If you choose some random lunatic (because it's "someone"), it's not going to be fantastic. It's going to be dire.scubaangel wrote: »it's been almost a year since I got shot of the guy I was dating down south and with everything else I've had to deal with although I've thought about it occasionally when I've met vaguely attractive types out with friends
Attractive in which way? Looks? Or that you feel they may be a key to your lock?scubaangel wrote: »I've felt that I particularly wanted to change my happily single status enough to actually make an effort or express an interest to them.
Getting entangled must prove itself to be better than happily single, otherwise it's not worth making the change. Neither state is better in all circumstances than the other. It's about people. You and him. A specific him - not some random bloke who just happened along.scubaangel wrote: »Currently reminding myself about all the bad bits - snoring,
You or him?
scubaangel wrote: »sharing the bed with a human shaped heater,
That's because you're using too heavy a duvet. A duvet for one person is too warm for two.scubaangel wrote: »not getting to do what I want when and with whoever I want among others.
Well that depends on what you want to do with whom, and when. Turning it around: Would you allow him to go to strip clubs every weekend for example?
What he would be happy for you to do will vary depending on the bloke. Some are very controlling, so are rather more lassez faire. Women also have similar differing attitudes to "personal time" - no broad gender-based strokes of paint here.
You just have to find the right person, one who will let you do some of what you'd like, but isn't so relaxed that you believe he's a walkover.scubaangel wrote: »Minor irritation of the day so far - AppTrailers not sending me the 50c I redeemed for instantly - instead my account is going to be reviewed in the next 2 working days. If they're not paying you, then you shouldn't be using them. You have other things to spend your time on - like reading...

Beer makes me ill so no beer is not better!
Don't worry head has been removed from backside and I am my usual happy to be single self. The people I refer to on the whole have been friends of friends so I don't really know them other than from fairly brief conversations. But I know that I'll meet someone at some point, likely when I'm not expecting it and then throw a strop because my comfortable existance has to change to accomodate them and I'd not realised until it'd happened.
As for the bad bits - him clearly, I don't snore (at least not at a volume audiable over my Dad through three walls according to the last boyfriend who stayed at the house).
I'm a warm person, I feel like I'm overheating from having someone next to me with no duvet over me!
I really don't think strip clubs every weekend would bother me too much as long as he wasn't spending a fortune and took me occasionally - which tbh goes for almost anything, and generally I do tend to invite my boyfriends along to whatever I have planned. The bigger issue does generally seem to be that I have more male friends than female so over all I'm more likely to be the one in the strip club with the boys than any of my previous boyfriends ever have!
The app paid me today, so will keep using it.
Tea, wine and vodka make the world go around.

Does it? Any particular reason why? (apart from over-indulgence)scubaangel wrote: »Don't worry head has been removed from backside and I am my usual happy to be single self.
Being unhappy with your particular circumstance does not mean your head has lodged somewhere unfortunate...
It's good to talk - as they say...scubaangel wrote: »The people I refer to on the whole have been friends of friends so I don't really know them other than from fairly brief conversations. But I know that I'll meet someone at some point, likely when I'm not expecting it
Expect the unexpected!

If you find someone who sleeps cooler than you, they'll suck the heat out of you. Honestly...

I must admit, I'm pretty much the same with socialising partners. Though with XOH and schoolfriends and catching up (much gassing) - I just made my excuses. I did give lifts though - I was/am unfortunately kind like that...scubaangel wrote: »The bigger issue does generally seem to be that I have more male friends than female so over all I'm more likely to be the one in the strip club with the boys than any of my previous boyfriends ever have!
Well, so long as you invite them down off the stage occasionally... :rotfl:

Thats the point I'm not unhappy, just felt a little under attack from all my friends, sickeningly happy friends and a little drunk

I dont know why but beer has always made me ill, more than half a pint and I'm likely to vomit, more than a pint even without vomiting I feel like hell the next day, don't really know why so I just avoid it.
My ex was just anti social, him actually leaving the house was a bloomin miracle, on the other hand he had no issues with me going out whenever I wanted with the girls as long as I didn't come home too drunk.
If the boy's want to dance on the stage let them...I be at the bar making sure it doesnt fall over
Yes I can see how combining ale and champagne might not be the greatest plan in the world. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

No idea what that would cause that. Well, not unless you buy Tesco Value Lager...:eek::eek::eek:scubaangel wrote: »If the boy's want to dance on the stage let them...I be at the bar making sure it doesnt fall over

You not a dancer?scubaangel wrote: »Yes I can see how combining ale and champagne might not be the greatest plan in the world.
Actually, when I was up in Edinburgh I did just that. I felt great the next day  - better than I normally do sober. It lasted the whole day, even despite an early morning and having to drive back.
It's the quality - you've got to get the quality stuff...
