Likewise, I suspect they'll wonder why the are suddenly so popular.

Just out of interest do you not ever look at online reviews before you book hotels.

The trip advisor reviews are

Chalk the £30 down to experience and book somewhere suitable if bathroom important. Perhaps make picnic dinner or something to compensate for the loss. Not worth getting so upset about. Mistakes happen through life and often cost money but need to learn from it and move on. Please don't let it spoil your night away for you both.

I agree, I don't book anywhere without looking at tripadvisor, the place looks like a health hazard.

ETA: The review written by SteveJ from Blackpool is very amusing, despite an horrendous stay

I do actually find the trip advisor reviews useful, although I am aware of the controversy around rivals posting reviews etc.

I use them to get a feel for the place , I've stayed in hotels where people have marked them negatively for things like breakfast times being a bit early, or evening entertainment being poor, as that doesn't bother me. I've avoided hotels with reviews that generally say dirty, or appalling food. I was planning to go to one hotel last year that looked gorgeous, but all the recent reviews stated the food was so poor due to a change of chef that they had to go to the local pub to eat despite dinner being included in their package.

Looking at the Tripadvisor reviews it looks like you had a lucky escape from the Hop Pole in Bromyard.

Hopefully google will pick up the multiple references to the Hop Pole in Bromyard so others will see the reviews & the OP's report of the customer service

I think if I had booked that then read the reviews/looked at the pictures, I would happily forego my money and stay at home
