Moving to another council area, applying for temp accommodation

Currently in temp acc in one city, thinking of moving back to my birth city of which my parents live just outside this new cities council area, about 10 miles away. I really don't want to apply for temp acc in the council area they live in, I grew up there, too many bad memories.
This is in Scotland, what chance do I have if I close my case here and move to this new city, I have no direct family there, but as I said just outside, think I have a chance?

Are you deemed vulnerable? If so, there is a small chance. If not, unless they have housing stock readily available, little to no chance. The fact that you have no connection to the area, and that you would be giving up your current property, is likely to place you very low on the housing list.0

I would be making myself intentionally homeless? I thought that didn't apply if you were in temp council accom?
This is what the current council told me also, so say I did close my case, and went to this city and they said no, what happens then?0 -
Private accommodation???make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Unless you are deemed vulnerable, you're on your own.
McKneff's suggestion seems a good idea - why not make arrangements before you go?0 -
I think you need to find out where you stand before you move out of temporary accommodation. I dont know whether you would be deemed as having a local connection or not but you need to find that out before you move
People have been known to make themselves intentionally homeless while being in temp accommodation, surely you have a support worker or a housing officer that can advise you before you make a decision?0 -
Pretty unlikely. I had this all planned and assumed I could do this, but I found out today it seems not, doesn't your birth place count for anything?
Not when they may have thousands of current residents waiting for suitable accommodation, no! Would you be happy if someone new to your current area was placed ahead of you, because they had lived there years ago?
Can you not move in with your parents?0 -

Well, my birthplace is Glasgow, but Ive lived 15 miles away for most of my life and I assume if I tried to apply in Glasgow, they would tell me where to go
I have a connection to this town because my family are here and I grew up here.
And I therefore qualified to go on their housing list0 -
Or why dont you find out if the council has accommodation in areas that are hard to let. Otherwise your best bet is to stay in temp accommodation until you get a housing offer. Making yourself homeless is a last resort and you could very well be sent back to the place you are now
I used to work with homeless people and people who presented in Glasgow but had no local connection werent accommodated by the council even on a temp basis.0 -
It seems you got the same answers last time you asked this question?
