I'm careful with money because I got sick of paying bank charges when I exceeded my overdraft limit. I'm no superscrimper but the bulk of our weekly shop is from the half price or BOGOF section online. If we eat out it's usually our local Wetherspoons of we'll use Tesco vouchers. We've not had a holiday abroad for 3 or 4 years now because we simply can't afford it but I also think it's about the same length of time since I last paid bank charges too

I find lots of my friends just never look into this stuff.
I have friends ... yet seem to miss out on things because they just never look how to get things cheaper.
However I'm lucky i that we don't need to do it to live but it certainly makes living a lot nicer!
these were my points exactly when I was dicussing it last night...I was perplexed that given the opportunity to get a discount etc then some of them wouldnt bother!
I guess it is an ethos that originated many years ago when we really didnt have much ...and it was a case of if we didnt get things cheaper or at the best price we usually had to go without...and as our situation improved it was a mindset that we still continued.
Money saving has shaped me into the person I am and whilst I dont have to moneysave to live so much now the challenmge is still there to get the best lifestyle we can for the money we have.
I'm sure my family wouldnt recognise me if all of a sudden I stopped...mealtimes would be less entertaining too..usually the next question thats posed to me after "what is this we are eating " is ..."does the offer need me to like this or not?"frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Just out of curiosity, when did "to money save" become a verb? I understand "money saving" as a noun, but as a verb, shouldn't it be "to save money"? Genuine question!0

I didn't specifically treat it as a verb or a noun...I've referred to it more in the context of a play on words and to link in with the name of the website...

It just occurred to me, that's why I asked. It's interesting from a linguistic point of view how what is essentially a "brand" can become so popular that it makes its way into everyday language and even becomes its own verb. I was just curious (it's not my first language, just to clarify!).0

I have to moneysave to live - over the last ten years I've been made redundant twice and so has my DH - while prices have steadily risen, our income has plummeted.
It's no good moaning about it, you just have to dig deep, make changes and crack on
life is not a rehearsal
I get an awful lot of perverse pleasure from stretching the pennies and getting good value for money. The things that really matter in life cannot be bought.:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls
