Vodafone in talks to sell stake in Verizon Wireless

I don't tend to buy big on any individual share, with yesterdays topup I have more than enough. I'd only buy more if a bigger buying opportunity comes up (20% drop). Now it's just a case of holding until everything goes though and the true value of both companies becomes clear.0

On a more mundane note one thing puzzles me. From Planterias' post on the previous page, "By owning all of the wireless operations, Verizon has enhanced its strategic position." In greed is good land, is there likely to be a prob with regulatory approval ? I realise of course that at present there is only one provider but over here in state nanny land I am sure that if the same sit'n existed, there would be suggestions that the market be opened up.0

tend to agree. the market could overreact downwards at some point, but both companies are, and should remain, hugely cash generative, so i expect them to remain useful shares to own. whether holding a small holding of Verizon shares is a good idea/not will remain to be seen, but if they are 'free' i guess it doesn't matter too much.0 -

im no expert on US Mobile Telephony, but i think it means 'all of Verizon's wireless business...ie. no longer in partnership with Vodafone', not that they have a monopoly, as there are other mobile providers across the US.0 -
there are plenty of other mobile operators there- I am with Tmobile USA.0

What is anyone's view on VODs current price as a long term income creation hold. Long term being ten years with the Verizon windfall included?
For some reason I feel cautious. Grrrr. But I'm bruised by Easyjet today so tentative.
I have only £1000 worth of EZJ but if it gets much worse ill realise a loss on these.0 -
you are still obsessing over daily changes- stop.0
-
I am due a fair windfall from an airline delay compensation claim so I am planning to invest it.0
-
Fair enough, but you keep watching daily changes after you buy. I still think you aren't in the right mindset for single shares and should stick to funds0
-
I actually quite like checking the prices. I find it fascinating.
I actually have no funds just IT's and shares.0
