Vodafone in talks to sell stake in Verizon Wireless

I hold 3750 VOD bought at £1.651, so I'm sitting on a nice 30% (c£2K) profit if I sell now. I had bought VOD for the dividends, and had planned to hold them long term. However, I'm thinking of selling now. I think the benefits of the Verizon sale are accounted for in the current share price. I don't want Verizon (or any foreign shares) in my portfolio because of withholding tax and the hassle of self assessment. But the key thing making me think I should sell now is I would rather the £1200 "special dividend" as a capital gain rather than taxable income. I'm a basic rate tax payer, and my cap gains are nowhere near £10K pa.
This will release about £8K. Will probably try and get £2K of Royal Mail, and split the rest between RDSB, BP, and CWC.
I might buy shares in the "new" VOD once all the dust has settled.
