What is the highest and lowest % charged by Estates Agent in UK

It would be interesting to learn what is the highest and lowest that Estate Agents around the country charge for selling properties
We are thinking of going with Halifax who charge 1.5% in West Yorkshire
Sometimes I have been browsing through the EE websites in London like Faron Sutaria/Foxtons etc and thought they may be charging more with all their interactive websites with a 360 degrees view of the room etc.
Thanks

Housenetwork charges 499 + vat:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
If you're going the 'conventional' route (i.e. using an EA) then 1.25% shouldn't be difficult to get. I offered the EA 1.5% IF they sold at very top price (which was £15k more than 3 other EA's said the property was worth); 1% if they sold below a certain price and 1.25% anywhere in between. They thought about it for a moment, then agreed. It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!0 -
Thanks Grumpy,
I'll try asking for a 1% and see what the lady says, after all when she came she did all the drawings of the floor plan and also took the photos, so it's ready to go on the market, just need to sign the form. If she doesn't agree then try for 1.25% - no harm in trying!0 -
we paid 0.01% but that was a promotional rate (£345 upfront) for a new agency. On paper it looks great.0

Most of the EA here in Central London will charge 2% for sole and up to 3% for multiple ,scandalous or what ?0

Wouldn't pay more than 1%. It is about time estate agents climbed off the percentage racket and started charging for the 'service'."I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." — Confucius0

I have never paid more than 1% but in the area we sell in there are still several small independants who will always do a deal.0

EA said 1.25%. I said too high and they immediately dropped to 1.OO%0

I'm on a £495 fixed price for a £100k house0
