I've checked all three of my policies and none of them say that.

My understanding, and I'm happy to be corrected, is that, in law, it is very difficult to invalidate the 3rd party element of your policy. Clearly the cover for your own car is likely to be a different matter.

All motor policies place a general condition on the policyholder that he or she will keep the car in a roadworthy condition. This includes road tax.

As far as the 3rd party element is concerned, if your insurer is liable to a third party under the Road Traffic Act when your policy would otherwise be invalid they can then sue you to recover what they paid to the third party.

Why is there an obsession with crushing cars? It seems very wasteful.

Road worthiness relates to motor vehicle construction and use legislation.

Taxation is entirely a revenue matter.

The lack of road tax does not render a vehicle unroadworthy. It simply means that a revenue offence has been committed for which the car owner may be penalised in a variety of ways.
The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.
