I'm not making any excuses here. As I originally said, I hold my hands up to this one. I just think that there should be a period of say three working days to get things sorted before another ticket can be issued.

I do realise this and as it happens I haven't driven my car since the tax expired. But as I said, I am not making excuses.
I think I'll phone the police station and see what happens.0 -

But you still left it on the public highway.
Personally I think both fines should stand, you've had since the date you last bought your tax disc to know when it would expire, a reminder in your windscreen, and also a letter sent from the DVLA. No Tax = an automatic fine, no tax and caught on the road = another fine, caught again = another fine, caught once more? = hopefully crushed.
3 times is too many, 2nd time should be removal.0 -
"If you did not pay this within 24 hours, DVLA would impound your vehicle. If you did not pay the necessary release and storage fees, DVLA would get rid of your vehicle, generally by crushing it."
Is it only me that finds this a bit too harsh? The money, Dave...0 -

It would be nice to think that there was a remedy available to the tax payer that was as strong as the above when government fails to repair the roads taxes are collected for. Perhaps crush Tonys plane or one or two of those Jag's. LOL:rotfl:0 -

You're not a traffic warden are you ... or the PC that keeps fining me?0 -
Yes Hapless, I'd like to see the reference too.
There is a lot of conjecture about this area, but remember that Taxation is a Revenue offence, not a Road Traffic Offence.
and you can't be done for driving a car without paying your income tax eitherThe bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.0 -

By this logic they can come back and add another ticket next day? Next hour? Minute?
What’s next, reprogramming speed cameras so they take three pictures and hit you with three fines?Yes Hapless, I'd like to see the reference too.
